Publisher's Summary

Snow is a rarity in Maura Donovan's small village in County Cork, Ireland, so she wasn't sure what to expect when a major snowstorm rolled in around Sullivan's pub. But now she's stranded in a bar full of patrons - and a suspected killer in a long-ago murder.

Maura's been in Ireland less than a year and hasn't heard about the decades-old unsolved crime that took place nearby, let alone the infamous suspect, Diane Caldwell. But the locals have, and they're not happy to be trapped with her. Diane, meanwhile, seeks to set the record straight, asserting her innocence after all this time. And since no one is going anywhere in the storm, Maura encourages Diane to share her side of the story, which she'd never had a chance to do in court.

Over the next few hours, the informal court in Sullivan's reviews the facts and theories about the case - and comes to some surprising conclusions. But is it enough to convince the police to take a new look at an old case?

A clever spin on the classic locked-room mystery, Cruel Winter, the fifth in New York Times best-selling author Sheila Connolly's series, will delight fans of the Emerald Isle.

Alles wordt voortdurend herhaald

Wat een verschrikkelijk traag boek. Aan elke handeling wordt zo’n beetje een hoofdstuk gewijd. De heldin is simpelweg een dom wicht.
Voor luisteraars met veel geduld.

enjoyable easy listen

A very enjoyable easy listen. Not very much happening but well written, and so time flies by as you listen to the story.

Good Story Line, but slow

The storyline in the book was good, a group of people stuck together discussing a murder mystery. However the story went so slowly and often went back over the same ground time and again, I wanted to yell 'Just get on with it' several times. But I listened until the end just to see if it improved. I doubt I would be able to listen to another book in this series.

Excellent narration, interesting story...

Amy Rubinate is one of the best narrators I have yet to hear. She turned a good story into a great one, creating a wonderful intrigue with a slight seasoning of romance! So it wasn't a time-wasting, airport-bought, paperback fluff story; but a lovely escape into a cute little village in the most surreal town in a country shrouded in mystique.

Couldn't finish it

I rarely give up on a book before the end but couldn't finish this one. Terrible narration - mispronounced words, awful, awful Irish accent by American reader, grating rhythm, but to be fair, the story and characters are dull. Annoying main character who is forever recapping, repetitive scenes, and the mystery is not compelling.
