The hunt for mass murderer Cara Lindstrom is over. FBI Special Agent Matthew Roarke has been working for this moment: the capture of a killer who savagely hunts the worst of humanity. But Roarke remains traumatized by his own near-death at the hands of the serial killer who slaughtered Cara's family...and haunted by the enigmatic woman who saved his life.
Then the sixteen-year-old prostitute who witnessed Cara's most recent murder goes missing, and suddenly pimps are turning up dead on the streets of San Francisco, killed with an MO eerily similar to Cara's handiwork.
Is a new killer on the loose with a mission even more deadly than hers? In the pulse-pounding third Huntress/FBI Thrillers book, Roarke will have to go on the hunt...and every woman he meets, even those closest to him, may prove deadly.

The book required more of the new story and less repetition from previous books. Also, the story lines and character descriptions were repeated over and over again. It was frustrating and became boring. Some of the foul language seemed over-used and took over from what could have been a more in-depth thriller story. .
Not sure. I thoroughly enjoyed the first two books in the series.
I enjoyed his character performances.
The story could have been told in a fraction of the time. It was disappointing and not up to the usual standard of the intriguing thriller series.
I was very disappointed with this book. It proved to be so predicable to read it was painful. I initially thought Sololoff was onto spmething special but this Bk 3 has not supported my expectation at all. I found the character development of the FBI Principal unconvincing with author repeated phrases describing his anger and total human disfunction just too too too much. The read was okay that material not so.
"Very talented author and narrator!"
All three books in this modern detective series are excellent, but I liked the second book most. The series must be read in order written.
These three books in the Huntress/FBI series are my first exposure to Alexandra Sokoloff's works. She is obviously an immensely talented author. The motives and methods of Roarke, the FBI agent, and the huntress, a very empathetic female serial killer (yes, I know that is weird!), are well understood by the listener.
RC Bray is best known as the narrator of science fiction novels including The Martian but also others. Whoever selected Bray to narrate this series deserves credit because he does an outstanding job.
I recommend all three books in this series for those who like police thrillers or psychological thrillers.
"Cold Moon is a great finish for this trilogy."
As I suspected, all three books of the Huntress series should be read in order. They are all outstanding.
Please excuse the brevity of this review. If you read the Huntress Moon and liked it, I cannot concieve of you not reading the entire trilogy.
"Pretty much the only way it could be"
The ending was about the only way it could happen. Satisfying if a bit sad.
"Fast pace action pack thrilling read"
As is the normal for Ms. Sokoloff she keeps you on the edge guessing to the outcome. Just when you think you know what is going on, she turns the tides and gives you a twist. This is a very fast pace filled with suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. As the author takes you on a journey of teen tracking, drugs trackers and the women after them. The series has always been more about Cara Lindstrom whose whole family was killed in front of her and her revenge on all those that hurt children she calls them “It”. As you know if you have followed the series Cara was taken down and now in jail. The story is still about her but is more focused on Roarke his feeling about life, trackers and the teens going missing. With Cara in jail someone is out there killing pimps with the same MO she used. The why and who will surprise you. Roarke finds he cannot trust anyone even those closes to him is up for question. Cold moon is a wonderful addition to this series with the bone chilling thrills the first two in this series gives you.
R.C. Bray has become one of my all time favorite male narrators with his smooth voice and his chilling tones. He always hits the emotions as he makes you feel them. I really love him as a narrator he brings so much to a story as he pulls you in with his many different voices. I do have to say some of his female voices in this one were very close together but was still a wonderful listen. He really makes you feel Cara as you see her in her calm voice but know her heart is beating double time as she takes down those she calls IT. In this book you can feel the pain for the teens and those trying to protect them. His Roarke is just outstanding I really felt the pull with him as his is torn between right and wrong. In my book this narrator is TOPS!
I love Cara her character is like no other but with Cold Moon I got to know Roarke better his fear as he battles his self against right and wrong. His pull to Cara is real it makes him more normal to me. In my mind I see these two getting together what the outcome would be I haven’t any idea but for me they seem the prefect couple. I do feel it is the pull of getting into ones head that pulls them to each other in some kind of a romantic sense. The chemistry between these two is so mind boggling and strong. What I can’t wrap my head around is this really from a romance set or is this more like when you fall for your kidnapper kind of thing. Is it the thrill of the chase or is it more maybe two souls reaching out for one common goal of bring these predators to justices?
I totally enjoyed the new characters the author brought in as she weaved a compelling story for me. I never saw many of her twist and turns coming and things I thought were I found was not as she pulls you in and turns your thoughts to her way of thinking. The ending is mind blowing my heart goes out to so many of these characters. For me they seem real as I am sure they do for the author. I found this to be a very believable story one that touched my heart and soul.
This author has fast become this family’s top author she has pulled us in as we try to work out where the book will be going. When one of Alexandra Sokoloff moon books comes out we know it is family time as we go head to head over the outcome. We TOTALLY LOVE this author. The author has set it up that you can read these as a standalone but is much better to read them as they fall in the series. I think the first one will always be my favorite there is no way I would have wanted to miss it. I highly recommend any of the Moon series either as a read but definably as an audio. I would highly recommend you read each in order to get the full effect.
"Is it over?"
This feels like it might be the end of this series - but who knows? I did figure out the final plot twist but it was still a good story.
This series sheads light on the world of human trafficking which is horrible but does it in a way that also highlights a women rights movement and strength.
This is my first Sokoloff novel. I was very impressed with the characters, story line, and the reading performance.
Alexandra Sokoloff has created a rich, dark, mesmerizing series with strong women and realistic depiction of the epic battle between right and wrong, morality and archaic laws. THANK YOU.
R. C. Bray is my favorite narrator ever and his nuanced performance gives life and clarity to each charcter. Can't wait to hear the next one.
"Five stars from a book junkie what more do I need to say??"
Starting third book in the series bought one right after the other couldn't stop myself first two were great the third should be just as wonderful
"Santa Muerte lives"
R.C. Bray does such an amazing job telling the story and uses so many great character voices.
The Santa Muerte Killings. Had to do some personal research on the mythical figure Santa Muerte
Agent Roark seeing Cara in the prison
If you have not listened to any of R.C. Bray's other narrated titles you need to check him out!
He is one of the best narrators hands down!
A great listen while I'm busy doing things I hate like tidying up but...the protagonist really needs to take something for that indigestion , nausea, rising bile he refers to around every ten minutes. His continual over emphasis of his disgust made me start to. wonder what he is hiding..." thou doeth protest too much..." etc.
"Another great book!"
Brilliant story with interesting twists and turns - shame this is the last book. Great narration can't go wrong with RC Bray!
"A thriller to die for!"
Tension, drama and a thriller that had a lot of pace, without turning back. My only dislike was that, I felt throughout the last few chapters, there wasn't much of an adventure. But either way, worth listening to!
The best read Ive come across in a long time, hope there will be more in this series.
