    Story
"New take on the 'Odd Couple' detective genre"
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot was interesting albeit a little implausible (not that that interfered with my enjoyment of the story).

What does Tim Goodman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voices were well done - not overdone. Especially liked the older characters voices.

    Any additional comments?

This was a new author and series for me. I enjoyed it and look forward to trying another one. My one reservation was the - for me - overly easy villain.

    Story
    "Not my cup of tea"

If you like mysteries where almost all the essential information relevant to the crime is withheld until the very end, at which time the wily old detective gets everyone in a room and all the guilty ones readily confess and fill in all the details (a la Columbo, Poirot or Perry Mason), you'll probably like this. If not, not. There is a decent amount of clever British-style quips and banter and the narrator is ok but not exceptional.

    "Great listen!"

I have read several of the Bryant and May books and was happy to find them on Audible. The narrators do a great job which makes it a good book to listen to.

    "Unique Humor"

My scoring system: 3 stars equals an ok story but forgettable and will never relisten.
Very British humor. I read "On the Loose" first as someone else suggested. It helped to understand the story of "Mr. Fox" . I have mixed feelings on the narrator, he is rather monotone however, it matches Bryant and May well. I did laugh at the run down headquarters in both books.

    "Quirky, brilliant and gripping"
What did you like most about Bryant and May Off the Rails?

The characters are eccentric and beautifully revealed and the story engaging. I love the way that it winds around, gradually developing and revealing. The pace is almost leisurely but there is still huge tension. Very skilful writing.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bryant and May Off the Rails?

It's the whole fantastically detailed knowledge of the corners and history of London. The plot is Byzantine but the City is a character in itself.

What does Tim Goodman bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The voices of the characters bring them to life far more than if I had just read the book - although I have now read several of the Bryant & May books that I had previously heard.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Just thoroughly involved - I looked forward to the next opportunity to listen so much I had to ration the time.

    Any additional comments?

So good I've listened twice and will do so again.

    "The story gets more personal..."
Would you consider the audio edition of Bryant and May Off the Rails to be better than the print version?

No idea, I haven't read the print version

What other book might you compare Bryant and May Off the Rails to, and why?

It is similar-ish to 'on the loose' in that there is greater character development than before and we get to see a little more background of each of the main characters.

Have you listened to any of Tim Goodman’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes, the previous Bryant and May books. He is as good as ever.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Longbright and how she and Bryant deal with the death of Liberty.

    Any additional comments?

The best book so far. Not only have you got 2 fascinating main characters, excellent plot lines all well drawn and very well read, you now have more of the inter-character relationships along with an appreciation of their internal worlds. 5 stars.
