My name is Savannah Miller. My father is the mayor of New York. One day, after my 27th birthday, I was grabbed from behind. A cloth sack was quickly pulled over my head, and I was taken from everything I'd ever known.
I was beaten, starved, treated like an animal, and forced to live in a room with no windows. With no sense of time and no dignity left, I finally gave up hope and made a promise to myself to end it all. Unfortunately, it was going to be a slow process.
Then one night an elite group of US Army soldiers came to my rescue. I was brought to a safe house and given two options:
One - Stay under their protection and follow their rules or....
Two - Leave and be guaranteed to be returned to the savages within a week.
I chose option one.
As I work with a therapist and begin processing my hellish ordeal, things slowly begin to surface. With the help of new friends and a potential new love, I fight to get my life back and make choices that will forever alter my future. This is my story....

Wow, this is such an amazing book. It's so well written and narrated. It hooks you from the very beginning to the very end. I couldn't get enough. Sucks the sequel isn't on audio, but will be reading it immediately!
"Really!! Im kinda pissed..."
Book was good.
However....How do you have a series available from audibles and miss a book.
You can only get book 1 and 3.
Shattered book 2 of the series is not available.
"Great start to series"

"Omg...best book ever"
I don't write many reviews but I HAD to write one for this book. This series. I absolutely LOVED this book!! Hated the ending but cannot wait until the next book!! No doubt I will Karen to the next two books! It better get better thou!! Lol. The ending I mean. Cause the entire book was phenomenal but I just hated the ending of this book.
"Not What I Expected"
The book started off on a good note and continued with increasing interest, until Savanna started to become bolder. So, props to the author for capturing and keeping my attention through that medium. However, this must be said. It's not very attractive to listen or read about a female character, especially the main one, to behave spoilt and whiney.
It is very well established that each person handles trauma differently, but I'm not a big fan of persons repeatedly making foolish decisions to decline the help needed and being offered, especially after said sources have repeatedly proven themselves to be trustworthy enough.
Some may say that a cold POV, but you should know, that it's also stupid, especially if it helps to protect you. Anyway, I hope her character can be more tolerable in Shattered. If not, then, it would be sad not to be able to find out if they got their happily ever after.
"I love this book it was great to hear it. read it "
they should make movie o a TV show
I love it. this a good romantic book.
Loved it!! it's been a while since I've heard a good book. I can't wait to listen to the next in the series.
"My new favorite series"
I was not sure if this book would catch and hold my attention. It did just that and more. I can't wait to listen to the next book.
Some technical issues, but a good story.
"I've been looking for a heart wrenching listen and boy did I find it"
Beautiful story, well put together characters, at some points it got repetitive but I thoroughly enjoyed this.
"SIMPLE; YOUNG ADULT AT MOST."
No. The premise sounded interesting; dark. However, the story was juvenile and simplistic.
It was a "bubblegum" story. Lots of people love bubblegum. I do not and wish I had read a review providing an accurate description.
Yes; to provide others with the description I wish I had read prior to making the purchase.
The book was well written but the level of sophistication was at a naive 19-20 year old.
"Uncomfortable and unconvincing"
Wholly unsatisfying book. Some understanding by the author about trauma and its effects, and some ability to develop convincing characters instead of cardboard cut-outs would have been a large step forward. Shame as it was a good premis for a book, but the main female character was a spoilt rich bitch with uncharacteristic outbursts, the male lead a character of two opposing halves - unintentionally it seems as this was never addressed or used to create dramatic tension, and the in-house baddie just would have never been in-house in the first place. I read good reviews of this book on this site, but can only assume that they were reading something else. Fortunately I can return it and get something decent to listen to.
