Twenty episodes from the first BBC Radio series plus an hour-long Christmas special, starring Arthur Lowe, John Le Mesurier, and Clive Dunn.
In 1973 the BBC adapted its hit TV series for radio, featuring the original TV cast and characters. Three series were broadcast between 1974 and 1976, with episodes adapted from their TV counterparts by Harold Snoad and Michael Knowles.
Now you can enjoy once again these unique recordings, with a supporting cast including John Laurie, James Beck, Arnold Ridley, and Ian Lavender. Among the 21 episodes are "The Man and the Hour", "The Battle of Godfrey’s Cottage", "Sgt Wilson’s Little Secret", "Something Nasty in the Vault", "The Menace from the Deep", and "No Spring for Frazer."

"How can you not love these guys.. and odd lady"
Dad's Army is a often repeated and often enjoyed series. The characters are wonderful and are like everyone's grandad.
I have loved the TV show since I was a young lad and continue to do so now I am much older.
The only downside for me is that these are straight from TV and therefore some of the humor is visual. However, I defy many people not to have seen the episodes and remember them well for this to only be a small downside.
Highly recommended to brighten any dull day. I am still working my way through for when I have a particularly trying day or feel the need for a lift. This is one audio book I go too.
Timeless humor. I was surprised how great the writing and performances were. A real treasure, with humor and wwll history to boot.
loved it! funny irreverent and inoffensive fun! good for the soul. shall buy all series.
after watching the tv series for many years, starting with my grandad when i was an awful lot younger, this series feels like it has been a part of my life for ever, it never lets you down and you almost feel as if you know the characters as old friends
there is nothing else to compare to dads army
i have liked all of the characters involved throughout and have had various favourites depending upon their story line, possibly my all time favourite though is cpl jones
"A Comedy Classic"
Simply put Dad's Army is and will always remain a masterpiece of comedy and this audiobook does nothing but continue that trend. With the same outstanding cast that was seen on the screens this will keep you laughing from beginning to end and is an audio that you will listen to again and again and again!
Apart from being superb value for credit, as it were, where sheer amount of content is concerned the real selling point here are the wonderful, charming, comic scripts adapted from their televisual counterparts. While it is a shame that the original Pvt. Walker wasn't able to take part the rest of the cast are all present and correct with each member of the troupe proving their chops as radio actors (even if Clive Dunn does mug for the microphone more often than he should).
Very funny, and a very worthy title.
"Total classic comedy"
Gem of a series, total delight and fantastic buy.. Something to hear again and again.
If you like dads army, you will like this for sure. Makes a nice change from music in the car!
Yes; because it is that sort or easy going British Humour, the kind that wears very well, it becomes like an old friend.
Great value, close your eyes and happily relive some of your childhood or younger years.
"Better than the TV series a"
Absolutely hilarious, so much funnier than the original series. All the cast come to life with great script writing. An absolute joy to listen to.
Child hood memories rekindled - fantastic great adaptation and enjoyed every minute. Might just treat myself to the DVD this weekend.
This radio series and all the others are superbly funny, Arthur Lowe is a suburb comedian. Well worth buying all of them.
