Publisher's Summary

The complete, unabridged audiobook of The Fellowship of the Ring.

Continuing the story begun in The Hobbit, this is the first part of Tolkien’s epic masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings, available as a complete and unabridged audiobook.

Sauron, the Dark Lord, has gathered to him all the Rings of Power - the means by which he intends to rule Middle-earth. All he lacks in his plans for dominion is the One Ring - the ring that rules them all - which has fallen into the hands of the hobbit, Bilbo Baggins.

In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense task, as his elderly cousin Bilbo entrusts the Ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous journey across Middle-earth to the Cracks of Doom, there to destroy the Ring and foil the Dark Lord in his evil purpose.

Nothing compares to this classic tale

The narrator does a sterling job of conveying this epic story. I admit though, I usually jump forward thru the songs hahah :)

Good book

Good book, but man do the songs drag on. Still, happy to have finished a classic.

A true rendition

Any fan of the books should be happy with Inglis’ reading. Recommended to me by a friend who shared my love of Tolkien and I’m so glad she did!

Songs a plenty

while I can imagine this book would have been quite dense to read particular with numberous long detailed songs, Rob Inglis brings the songs to life with joyous chanting!

great story but new narrator needed

A story of this magnitude with such a large young fan base needs a new and more animated narrator. I loved this series when I was younger but this narration I more often than not found my attention drifting because the voice sounded like a lecture instead of the telling of a great tale.

Brilliant! Does justice to Tolkien's vision!

Amazing reading, with every character having a distinct voice! It was like listening to a full cast production - incredibly all read and sung by one person! I'll definitely be going on with the next one! I love that everything is here, every bit of nuance in the writing given full value - no abridgment here! Highly recommended for all true Tolkien fans!

Better than the movie.

Take your time with the book, learn about the characters and ponder the geography. It really is indeed a wonderful world.

The narrator does an 'okay' job with the songs and poems, and I think it's pretty cool that people took the time and the work to put them to tunes. It helps a great deal to immerse you into middle earth and into the fellowship of the ring.

Fan-bloody-tastic!
