Story
I have tried to show in this audiobook that as God is one, necessary for all of us, so religion is one, necessary and universal. Only the roads to it may differ in some respects at the beginning. As a matter of fact, it is ludicrous to say that there are two religions, when there is but one God. There may be two denominations or sects, but there is only one religion. What we now call different religions should be known as different denominations or sects under that one universal religion.

Publisher's Summary
When Autobiography of a Yogi first appeared in 1946, it was acclaimed as a landmark work in its field. The New York Times hailed it as "a rare account". Newsweek pronounced it "fascinating". The San Francisco Chronicle declared, "Yogananda presents a convincing case for yoga, and those who 'came to scoff' may remain 'to pray." Today it is still one of the most widely read and respected books ever published on the wisdom of the East.
This audio edition, featuring Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley's masterful narration, contains the complete text of Paramahansa Yogananda's life story, an absorbing account of a singular search for Truth. Yogananda describes his experiences with modern-day saints and illuminated masters of India, and presents a definitive introduction to the whole science and philosophy of Yoga.
Critic Reviews
"A superb audio translation....Extraordinary work." (Library Journal)

Superb Insight Into Indian Life and Spirituality
This is a magical classic, the only autobiography of a prominent real yogi ,I know of in existence, who was acknowledged by both East and West in the 1930s.
It is often placed on university reading lists for Asian Studies,
it is well worth the read for the fascinating story alone.
Narration is superb. Enjoy!

I have listened to this book 3 x
I have also read the book 4 x so I am a fan. When I recommend the book for people who are not used to reading I advise to listen and read at the same time as son name pronunciation can be difficult to absorb with just the ear. But n saying that I now prefer the audio version. Masterfully narrated and produced. For a life changing experience I highly recommend. Yogananda and the power of this book has acted as a gateway for many enlightened beings. Michael Singer and the Untethered Soul being one of note. Namaste
