Publisher's Summary

With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century. In this story of "kindred spirits", McAdams' touching and heartfelt narration proves she is just that - bonded on a deep level to this shimmering classic.

When aging brother and sister Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert decide to adopt an orphan boy to help with chores around their farm, Green Gables on Prince Edward Island, neither is prepared for the feisty and imaginative redheaded girl who is mistakenly brought to them instead. Nor are they prepared for the way in which she will change their lives. Through a series of hilarious misadventures, Anne's uncompromising spirit makes her a striking presence in the close-knit village, bringing new friendships, first crushes, and, for her foster parents, a love and openness unimaginable before her arrival.

Absolutely divine

This is the most perfectly read version of Anne of Green Gables I could ever imagine. Rachel McAdams has the most perfect voice for Anne: light and humorous, with the necessary depth and sensitivity.
I laughed, and cried throughout the whole thing, despite knowing the story so very well.

If the powers that be ever read this: PLEASE have Ms McAdams read the rest of the series!

Rachel McAdams shines as narrator

Absolutely loved Rachel McAdams reading a beloved classic. My husband enjoyed it too and he doesn't even enjoy novels.

Rachel McAdams creates pure magic in "Anne..."

I've never actually laughed AND cried when listening to an audio book. I was moved and absolutely charmed by this classic story. Rachel McAdams breathes life into every single character in Avonlea - she is an amazing talent. I loved this audible book and was definitely disappointed when it came to an end.

Dreamy & fitting of Anne!!

The story itself is one I know well from watching it many times on video (old school) and then DVD. However, I have never read it myself.
I am finding myself lost in Avonlea all in a different way. Hearing about the description of the setting and listening to the way Anne labels/names all the places and landmarks is just dreamily picturesque.
Love Anne of Green Gables.

Rachel McAdams was the perfect pick for narrating this story. She fits the part of Anne so well and expresses all her thoughts and mannerisms so well!! Not only does she encompass Anne, but Rachel is also able to inflect such minor nuances and changes in her voice to take on Matthew, Marilla and all the characters with such ease and personality.
So easy to listen to and envision.
Well done Rachel!!!
