"This sentimental classic - perfect for any child who's ever thought that maybe, just maybe, his or her toys have feelings - has been charming children since its first publication in 1922. A great read-aloud for all ages." (Amazon.com review)

"Reads well but quickly"
The reader does a great job with the voices and everything, but she reads FAST. Most children's books have longer pauses. My 4-year-old son adores audiobooks, and he loved this one too, but he missed a lot of it because of the speed. "Wait, what was that she was saying about a horse?"
"Transported Back to Childhood"
Yes! This is a great book and the performance, while not the same as the old cassette tape that came with the book in the 80's, is pretty close. I was transported back to my childhood listening to this
When the boy calls the rabbit real. It was everything the rabbit had wanted and it showed how much the boy truly loved his rabbit.
Honestly, nothing. Listening to the book was something I remembered doing as a child. I used to borrow the book/cassette from the library all the time. It was just something I remembered doing and I bought the audiobook to relive that memory. While the narration wasn't at all bad, I miss the narration from that old cassette tape.
When the rabbit became real-real. His joy at being able to jump and bound around always makes me smile.
This is a childhood favorite and having a audio version just tickles me.
"Story brings back memories..."
Memories, love, imagination
The little bunny, of course! Everyone, children, adults, and even stuffed animals, want to be loved.
She brought the story to life, as if I were reading it.
The little bunny atop the garbage pile to be burned. He was battered and alone and almost destroyed. Tea- jerker time! How many of us loved our toys as kids and then grew up, the toys forgotten? I still remember mine, and they were real to me.
Good story for all ages.
This was my first experience with an audio book from Audible.com, and I must say- this was a delight!
I loved the whole story, the best part has to be when he is conversing with the Skin Horse about what it means to "Be Real"
Every time I read or listen to this book it makes me cry like a baby :)
"High Speed Dubbing!"
The Velveteen Rabbit is a beautiful classic, sadly not done justice by the narrator.
I would have preferred a slow and soothing voice and unfortunately Gale Van Cott's style came across rushed and lacking effective pauses and rise and fall of tone.
