Publisher's Summary

More demons, epic battles and fights to the death: introducing the unmissable next instalment in the Summoner Trilogy....

On trial for a crime he did not commit, Fletcher must face the Inquisition, who will decide his future. The process is grueling, led by those who will do anything to see him suffer and haunted by ghosts from the past with clues to Fletcher's tragic origins.

But Fletcher has little time to dwell on these new revelations when the king announces a deadly challenge to the graduating students at Vocans. One that involves entering Orc territory to complete a risky mission. With loyal demons by their sides, commoners and nobles, dwarves and elves must overcome barriers of class and race and work together to triumph. The reward: a fortune in gold, the safety of an empire and peace.

With the entire empire watching, Fletcher has much to prove, but there are those out to get him, and it soon becomes clear that there's a traitor in their midst, trying to thwart the mission and create unrest within the empire. With everything stacked against him, Fletcher must use everything in his power to fight his way to victory.

"An incredible sequel – everything I wanted & more"
What did you like most about The Inquisition: Book 2 (Summoner)?

That it was totally unpredictable! I wasn't sure exactly where the story would go after the incredible cliffhanger at the end of book 1, but it certainly wasn't where it ended up. And the ending of the book ... wow ... another huge cliffhanger. I definitely need book 3 to come out sooner than it is!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Inquisition: Book 2 (Summoner)?

The ending – without a shadow of a doubt. Didn't see that one coming!

What about Dominic Thorburn’s performance did you like?

He's pretty good at accents – I love the Scottish accent for the dwarf characters, and I love the sass he gives them. You can often tell which character is speaking just from his intonation.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, but only because I don't think I could sit still for that long – this is a 10 hour audiobook, after all!

    Any additional comments?

The editing of the audiobook could have been done a little better. There are often parts of the book that have been read twice due to a mistake or a change of intonation for some dialogue, but it's not been edited out.

Other than that, it was fantastic.

    "When is book three out?"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Not as many chapters as the first book. But still a good listen.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Flectcher

What does Dominic Thorburn bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

He is brilliant narrator and brings the story to vibrant life.

Could you see The Inquisition being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

Young English actors would be fine to play these characters.

"solid audio book from a new author"

awkward pauses at the end of chapters and some repeating speech are annoying but do not diminish a very good read if at times predictable.

Enjoyed this more than the first book. Entertaining story, thoroughly detestable villains. Voice acting was top notch. Can't wait for next book.

"Good but not as good as the 1st one"

As is often the case, the book containing the back story is better and this is no exception. This book starts to deal with the politics of this world and it actually makes the book interesting in a different way.

The action and the typical fantasy book plotline are a little weaker in this book than the 1st that contains the back story but this is balanced by the development of a world, the political machinations within that world and the struggle for power/money

The rescue lacked some believable elements to it but there was a nice little plot twist atthe end which was nice.

Enjoyed it - bread and butter stuff. Looking forward to the next one

    "Great story, poor editing."

This is a really good story. Enjoyed listing to it thoroughly and cannot wait to listen to the next book. However the recording was poorly edited as at several points the reader repeats the same line twice.
