Listen to the books that inspired the How to Train Your Dragon films, narrated by David Tennant.
THE STORY CONTINUES in the second volume of Hiccup's How to Train Your Dragon memoirs....
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III was an awesome sword-fighter, a dragon-whisperer and the greatest Viking Hero who ever lived. But it wasn't always like that. Hiccup's memoirs look back to when Hiccup was just an ordinary boy, and finding it very hard to be a Hero.
Can Hiccup find Grimbeard the Ghastly's treasure before Alvin the Treacherous gets his sneaky hands on it? And if Hiccup opens a box that says DO NOT OPEN, will he live to tell the tale?
How to Train Your Dragon is now a major DreamWorks franchise starring Gerard Butler, Cate Blanchett and Jonah Hill and the TV series, Riders of Berk, can be seen on CBeebies and Cartoon Network.

Whole family love this series and David Tennant's narration.
quirky parts of story and the characters.
excellent voices by David Tennant.
My 8yr old son loves the movies and series so I got him the book that inspired them How to train a dragon. he really enjoyed it however at bed time I'm often really tired and get all my character voices in jumble when I'm reading. Decided seeing if it was available as an audio book would be a good idea, when I found out the narrator was David Tennant I new it was great idea! It was, he kept up amazing voices all the way through the book even though there are so many ( and the accent was MUCH better than mine). It drew both my son and I into this crazy Viking world all cold, damp and wild. The only thing that wasn't so good was having to turn it off after a couple chapters for sleep time, the best thing though....... my son actually getting up on time and getting ready for School really fast so he can listen to some more of the book before we leave for school! thanks, Cressida and thanks David, it's time to down load the next one 😃
"Another Tennant triumph"
David Tennant brings these enthralling stories to life brilliantly! Both my 10 year old and I were captured by this story. The stories are fantastic, but David Tennant makes them a joy to listen to.
"I've never seen my nieces so enthralled"
David Tennant is an awesome narrator. The story is already fantastic, but he puts such gusto, feeling, and humour into his voice that listening to is a million times better than me reading it. I put it on and curled up at night with my 2 nieces and listened to this. I have never seen them so enthralled by anything before.
It is so funny, the main characters are so likable. An excellent
All of David tennant's performances are awesome. This is just as fantastic as any of them. I hope he continues to narrate more children's stories.
My nieces held their breath and were wide eyed with anticipation about once every chapter.
I would really love to see audible release the Unabridged version. But for now, this abridged version is still fun and perfect for an Aunt's one week visit.
"Narrator enhances an already fun story"
David Tennant is clearly having a ball while narrating this book. His enthusiasm is contagious and my kids absolutely are enthralled with this audiobook. They've listened to it several times in the last month. The story is fun (albeit simplistic) and the characters are memorable. If you enjoyed the first book then by all means get this one as well.
David Tennant does great voices in this performance. We loved it on our road trip (both over 30)
Awesome narration by David Tennant. He does an awesome job at narrating with youthful enthusiasm. Very credible voice for this story.
"Very cool book"
This book .as very interesting and dramatic. I love How to Train Your Dragon very much.
I loved the story. In fact my kids are crazy about the series. The reader was excellent. My only gripe is: why is it abridged? The books are not that long in the first place. I have a problem with abridging books in general, but maybe there are some books with lengthy descriptions or long philosophical and introspective passage ("War and Peace" comes to mind) which could lend themselves to abridging. But abridging this series can only detract from the story. This is why I stopped getting these audiobooks, I realized my children would be better off if they just read the books and got the full story.
"All these books are brilliant!"
Yes it is amazing.
Alvin the treacherous
Get them all. They are well worth it. My 7 year old listens all day.
I like kid books on occasion. Don't get into this one thinking its anything like the movie though. So long as you keep the two separate from each other its enjoyable even for adults. Very cute and adorable as well as a lot of fun.
"We couldn't stop listening!"
The story had some good themes. We couldn't wait to find out how Hiccup got out of the next situation and how Toothless helped him.
Toothless is a funny little dragon that just keeps on giving us laughs.
How to train your dragon and How to speak Dragonese. This is a good one.
How to be a Pirate: Full of surprises and delightful!
"Fantastic audio book"
David Tennant does a stellar job bringing the story to life. Even if you are not a kid anymore, Cressida Cowell's tales of Hiccup are so much fun to listen to that it is seriously addictive. Shame though that this is an abridged version.
I bought this originally for my kids, and I (42 years old) ended up enjoying the story the most. David Tennant is brilliant, the story is brilliant.
loved it as did the whole family from 6 - 56 years old
amazing story even for adults and children now for the next book. what will happen
This book was really good! I found myself missing out a bit on description but overall I thought it was excellent! I love Cressida cowell and it was really good to hear this book! I really enjoyed listening to David tenant aswell as I saw him on doctor who and I thought his reading was splendid 😊
my whole family loved all these Hiccup books. made long car journeys whizz by and the boys even wanted to continue listening when we got home. David Tennant is a fantastic narrator. We are eagerly awaiting the last two books.
"The end of this story."
It really shows what mankind is like. The person with the wealth gets the power. Hiccup may have hoped, like Grimbeard the Gahstly, that one day humanity would be better. Though we do not punish with the same cruelty as our Viking predecessors, we are still cruel. Hiccup was right about Grimbeard's treasure. The Vikings had enough greed and violence already, as do we today. There is no question about the war that would be fought over Grimbeard's treasure (if it were real) so therefore, I end my review with the following statement.
Still not ready.
"Another great story"
The introduction of new characters and the little twists in the story.
The introdcution of a really nasty villain! And the narration of course.
David Tennant makes the characters colourful and using different accents for them is brilliant.
Where Hiccup puts his desire for treasure 2nd to the future of the Hooligans. Fab :-)
A fantastic narrator and brilliant fantasy book the best for kids to listen at nogbt
