From the post room to the board room, everyone thinks they can be the manager. But how do you manage outrageous talent? What do you do to inspire loyalty from your players? How do you turn around a team in crisis? What’s the best way to build long-term success? How can you lead calmly under pressure?
The issues are the same whether you’re managing a Premier League soccer team or an FTSE 100 company.
Here, for the first time, some 30 of the biggest names in soccer management reveal just what it takes. With their every decision, remark, skill, and success or failure under constant scrutiny from the media and the fans, these managers need to be the most adroit of leaders. In The Manager they explain their methods, give examples of lessons they’ve learned along the way, and describe the decisions they make and the leadership they provide.
Each chapter tackles a key leadership issue for managers in any walk of life and, in their own words, shows how the experts deal with the challenges they face in an abnormally high-pressure environment. Offering valuable lessons for business leaders and fascinating behind-the-scenes insights for soccer fans, The Manager is an honest, accessible and unprecedented look at the day-to-day work of these high-profile characters and the world of top-level soccer management.

Hard to listen to a reader who has no idea how to pronounce the names of the most famous football identities of current times. It's something of an uncritical hagiography of current football managers. I suppose the laws of libel make anything but hagiography feasible.
"Good management book"
Loved listening to this management book. The insights given into the minds of footballs best managers are unique. The book shows what makes a great manager. Loved listening to the book. Would highly recommend.
"Worst book ever"
Anybody that knows the game. I mean he sounds like a robot and he calls Celtic "Keltik" if u knew the game you would know how to pronounce it correct
Anger and disappointment
Get a better narrator
"Raconteurs name and team pronunciations very poor"
The book is interesting especially for the football fan but please revisit the books narration.
"Decent content. Abysmal narration."
A narrator who mispronounced names with shocking regularity. Bobby Carlton (not Charlton) Sow-ness (not Souness) Paris Saint Ger-main (not ger-man) keltic (not Sell-tic). Awful!
Anyone who knows the first thing about football!
Anger- there is someone who has been deprived of a narrating job.
"You cannot be serious"
Getting somebody with a british accent that can pronounce the names of clubs and players. An American with no football knowledge, not an inspired choice.
Absolutely not. The worst audio book I've ever listened to. Whoever made the decision to allow that guy to narrate should be sacked now.
Couldn't pronounce a single club or players name properly. It was extremely annoying to start with but I began to laugh in the end but it ruined the book completely.
All of them read by this guy who has the kind of voice a hypnotist would die for.
Please redo the book with a british narrator.
The reading in what could be best described as a sat nav voice being replaced for a fluent reading.
I would not have.
It was comparable to a cheap sat nav, football teams pronounced incorrectly.
It was factual.
I would probably recommend this book to purchase and read however the reading was truly awful. Filled with fact and content for the football enthusiast, but remaining focused near impossible. The man could not even say Celtic frustrating at best.
"Worth a read"
Some interesting facts and story's worth a read if you are a coach or manager of a football team I
how was Kyle Munley allowed to be narrator? He could't pronounce single player / manager surname or name of the club.
narrator pronouncing Celtic
Anyone who is not a robot and have seen at least 1 game of football in their live.
just the narrator I would cut, over and over
Was looking forward to this book but narrator made in unbearable
"Good book poorly narrated"
Great content and insight into the leadership techniques required in football management. It was let down a little because the narrator pronounced every English and / or Scottish name phonetically instead of correctly. Made it sound very disconnected from the subject matter.
"Good book, dreadful narrator"
Should have been a fantastic book but when you have a narrator who can't even pronounce names correctly and sounds more like a machine than a real person reading, it makes this potentially good book beyond dreadful! I read the reviews and thought I would put up with the poor narration but I wish I hadn't bothered!! Please save your credit for a well read book! Plenty of other fantastic football related ones on here!
"good book poor voice"
computerized voice which is not great. otherwise some good insights into the world of management
"Astonishingly bad choice of narrator"
Much as Kyle Muley annoyed me, its not his fault cause that's his voice. He was wrong for this book. The person who produced or directed this audiobook did a terrible job.
