The first and most comprehensive book on bringing the startup mindset into large organizations. Forget vague notions of creating an "innovative culture". This book reveals the methodologies, tools, and incentive structures guiding the world's largest organizations to reclaim their innovation prowess.
Even in a tough economic climate, small startups have found ways to create innovative products in shockingly short timeframes. So why should larger, more established companies take notice? Because they have everything to gain when they examine and adopt the process, strategies, and mentality of high-growth startups. The guidelines in this book will help companies shake the lethargy, bureaucracy, and power struggles that plague large organizations.
At the heart of this comprehensive resource is a practical approach to innovation based on specific timetables, compensation structures, and financial investments. Respected thought leaders in lean startup methodologies, the authors cover successful enterprise development, development innovation labs, corporate venture arms, and acquisition and integration of startups.
Don't be mystified by the success of startups. Master the methods of this new generation and compete on a level playing field.

This book was a great blueprint for applying the lean startup method to an established corporation. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone interested in fostering an innovation culture inside their organisation.
I wish more company leaders had read this book.

"Want to innovate like a startup? Read this..."
I've already read (listen) to this book twice as there are more concepts than can possibly be assimilated in one read through. If you are responsible for creating value in a large organization the concepts here are invaluable.
Leverages Eric Reis and Steve Blanks Lean Startup and Customer Develop concepts through the lens of the Enterprise.
Not particularly bad, however I've enjoyed books read by their author more as they generally have the passion behind the point
The overall concept maps to me and my business specifically as a consultant working with large enterprise business to help them innovate like startups.
Great Book period
"Good input for Lean StartUp Methods"
The authors explain very well different lean startup methods from the point of view of an enterprise and combine it with great case studies from lean startup in the corporate world. A must read for a company planning to rethink its approach to innovation!
"ideal for your large enterprise"
Great for influential individuals trying to ignite innovation in risk averse companies. innovation in modern times requires radically different thinking. this book lays out the fundamentals.
"Really good points in the book to help bring lean"
Not sure, didn't read the print.
No I have not
I didn't have an extreme reaction.
"Great overview of applyingLean Startup principles"
As someone who teaches Lean in both Multinational corporates and SME's and having worked in both, I found Trevor's book very insightful and comprehensive. Its sprinkled with lots of great examples and is very much a "how to do it" book rather than just an academic treatise.
Having a fairly substantial Lean & Lean start-up library myself I can recommend this book as a good addition the advantages of apply the principles of lean start-ups to your organisation
"Haunted by Innovation Colony Approach"
I would recommend this audiobook to a friend, at least to hear intro chapters (1-4) and & final one - to understand what is going on in business these days and how it might change her/his career... It is must read for anyone in charge of establishing innovation process in big companies or in charge of launching new products in big companies.
Innovation Colony for sure. It perfectly matches my almost 10 years old understanding of words mentioned by an ex-CEO: "You cannot be all of it - fast, cheap, high quality - beacuse it is about culture of people... if you mix it - you get mediocre results"... Similarly, you cannot mix disruptor & disruptee inside same company - and get top results....
Comparing colonies in historical sense with innovation colonies...
Yes, but life got in a way. :-)
Would love to have option to recommend to friends shorter (intro chapters 1-4 + final chapter, let's say cca 2h max) & longer version (as-is now, other chapters included). Believe it would be leaner approach to book versioning & releases :-)
A great addition to your Lean ToolKit!!! Indispensable for the new breed of Intrapreneurs within an enterprise.
Not completed ... Just started listening to it .
"A Book You NEED on your audiobook library!"
I really enjoyed how the authors explain the Lean Process, the Experimental Method and a path for enterprises to innovate according to the Lean approach.
It was really inspirited by the idea of "concierging" before prototyping, this concepts mobilised me into participate in Lean Startup Machine events.
The case studies expose real life scenarios and therefore are quite useful to read.
"Highly educational, informative, and insighful"
The information provided is insightful and educational. New ideas are generated in one's mind when listening to the book.
The analysis of how large corporations have failed and continue to fail due to their lack of vision, their inability to follow trends and see into the future, their restrictive and corporate behaviour which blocks the entrepreneurial mindset, and their lack of thinking further than their own corporation and immediate social framework.
Yes, although I haven't. I listen sporadically during resting times or while I exercise.
"Excellent, insightful, great case studies"
I really value the thought leadership and the time Obie and Trevor have taken to write this book, leveraging on the work of others and their own experiences. The insight is truly motivational and confirms my own personal direction and journey. Look toward to meeting you some day!
