perspective was great. 10,20,30, 50 year long term Investments are the only way that money is made. if the Market didn't open for 10 years would you still invest in the investment? great book.
"This is the ABRIDGED version..."
I happen to have a text version of this book but I wanted to listen to it. At only 4 hours, I was dubious that this was really the unabridged version of this 450 page book. Also, the book has hundreds of stock charts and tables that don't appear to be mentioned in the audio book. Beware, this is NOT an unabridged version. First, pages 1-109 are nothing but stock charts, Pages 112-152 is a section on how to read stock charts. Then what the audio book calls chapter 1, really is starting almost half way through the text book in chapter 3. Granted, you cannot put all of this information in an audio book, and I suspect the audio book has a different version number so they can say he is reading the whole book, but just be aware that you are really just getting an extremely ABRIDGED version of the real text version of the book. Even in chapters 3+, they are leaving out sections of information. Buy both if you must, I think it is worth it. Also, you should subscribe to the Investors Business Daily paper (really cheap) which will screen all these stocks for you, otherwise this book isn't that helpful. IBD also has a video tutorial that captures about 75% of the CANSLIM methodology he covers in this book, if you don't even want to waste 4 hours.
People give him a hard time but he's just your typical narrator. Don't not buy the book because of him. Listen to it at 2x if he's too slow.
William J Oneil has got it down!I have bought several other stock market audio books from audible and Oneil is the one that really knows his stuff.Get ready to subscribe to IBD you need it to effectively benefit from this book. I would buy it again if I didnt have it! Also Phil Town and Cramers real money were beneficial. William J Oneil is the best!!!!!!
"Good info but all over the place"
The book does provide some good pointers to look for before investing however it doesn't really teach you how to look for them.
To reap the benefits of this book you will likely need to subscribe and pay a membership to a good screening tool. Otherwise the book is very much useless.
The book is also overwhelming at times, a combination from the reader's voice and the amount of information being thrown at you all at once.
In short if you are a beginner investor start off with something else like Rule #1 or the little book the beats the market(although views on this book contradicts those methods) and expect to pay for a screening tool if you want to apply the main lessons of this books.
"Pass on this one"
I never write reviews, but I felt I should for this one. I read a lot of books from famous authors such as: Ben Grahm, Warren buffet, charlie Munger, John Boyal, William J burnstein, Burton G Malkiel, Joel Greenblatt, and other top authors in the history of the field. This book goes against everything that each of the investors above believe in that the author of this book believes Growth stocks > Value stocks. The author believe in investing in amazon or Facebook or google no matter the P/E and riding the wave up--no matter how over valued the company may be. The authors approach is highly technical and I believe he is a bit delusional when he says to find a company with quarterly growth of EPS by 40 to 500% and mutual funds with growth of 20% annual growth. Where he is coming up with these number i dont know. It makes sense considering the book was written during the growth tech boom. I see the appeal of this book in that he tricks individual (beginner) investors by giving them false hope and a CAN SLIM formula for finding growth stocks such as Netflix, once its already high in price. His strategy works for him in that he is a master in technical analysis...the average investor is not. If you want to try his approach be my guest, but with the bear market arising and the end of the tech era, good luck to you.
Take my advice, stick with the experts that i mentioned above and leave this unsound advice in the audible store and not in your library.
"Material is okay, but the narrator drives me nuts"
William O'Neil is a maybe. Chris Ryan, definitely not.
A muppet. A five year old. Anyone. Please make him stop.
"To much God"
This book is based strongly in a belief in God and the teachings of the Bible. Should you not be a religious person, like myself, steer clear.
"Changed the way I trade"
I've listened to this audiobook several times, and purchased the book and have read it through twice as well. This book put me on an entirely different way of trading. The two biggest helps for me were for cutting losses and simplifying my technical analysis. Granted, you basically need to subscribe to IBD to be able to use all the tools, but a great book nonetheless.
May not be a great book for newcomers to the stock market, but for those who have been buying and selling but feel pushed around it can help bring some understanding to why the market moves the way it does.

"A good place to start"
this book offers valuable information regarding basic stock trading strategies. It goes through how to make decisions on buying and trading stocks as well as how to protect gains and guard from losses.
"disappointing little depth here."
disappointing this book would be okay total beginners. but for those looking to formulate a serious strategy will need to look elsewhere. The lengthy tiresome metaphors pad out the little content. Like many audio books this fails to go into the depth necessary to really master the subject. moderately entertaining but no real content here.
"At last no-nonsense book."
Good and serious position about stocks trading. No so called secret holy grail. Professional approach and full explanation of subject.
"A must have book"
Thorough and come from heart to heart
If you are thinking to invest in stock market then yes for it
