Now that 75 percent of screen time is spent on connected devices, digital strategies have moved front and center of most marketing plans.
But what if that's not enough? What if most people ignore company messages? What if consumer engagement never goes further than the "like" button? A sobering reality is hitting marketers. Technology hasn't just reshaped mass media, it's altering behavior as well. And getting through to customers will take some radical rethinking.
First step is to toss the linear plan. Next is to strip away conventions, open your mind, and join Disruptive Marketing on a provocative, fast-paced tour of our changing world....
Packed with trends, predictions, interviews with big-think marketers, and stories from a career spent pushing boundaries, this book will propel you out of your comfort zone and into the disruptive mind-set you need for future success.

This seems to be targeted at marketers who are feeling particularly out of touch with new media, social, the internet etc. most people in a job at the moment will have already come to the conclusions offered here.
Unfortunately there aren't many examples of the ideas stated here, just ideas on where the industry is going (or has gone), but again nothing groundbreaking. Even just some, "because this has happened, try doing this and this" would have been great as opposed to going on and on about how people shouldn't be hiring MBAs and should be looking at creatives or people should market with feeling.
I don't regret listening to this book, but can't really recommend it to many.
"Needed. Valuable. Welcome contribution."
For some reason, I had a hard time "getting it" the first time I listened to it. I kept pressing the rewind button on my iPhone, to hear paragraphs again.
Not because the book is unclear, but perhaps because it's profound. At least as profound as a book about marketing can be:)
After having finished it, I looked forward to relistening.
I did so, a few weeks later.
And after that second relisten, which happened maybe two months ago now: I feel like relistening for the third time.
I guess it's a marketing mind-bender, to me, this book:)
The narration is good too. When I give five stars for narration, it's because the narrator adds something special to the experience. I think he does so in this instance. Good job.
"The Future of Marketing"
I believe it could be enjoyed in print or audio. The author tailors the story with listeners in mind so it is easy to follow, and his voice is not annoying.
Geoffrey Colon tells personal stories throughout the book so it adds to the stories when you can actually hear his voice.
I enjoyed hearing about his projections of future marketing tactics, which helped shape your mind to be a forward thinker.
This is a great book for students who are going into marketing or professionals that are looking to shake things up.
"shake the disease"
inspirational....yup. Both eye-opening and confirming. This book pushes me to take steps and spread the word.
"good read / listen"
I would definitely recommend this listen to someone who wants to broaden their horizons on marketing and forward thinking
"Well thought out deep dive into disruption"
Colon takes a deep dive into the infrastructure of "the norm" and carefully plots out the paths of disruptive behavior. He takes time to explain scenarios he has experienced and the outcomes his disruptive behavior has affected.
This book is ideal for those who want to think differently, but just need some guidance towards that first step.
Pick it up, listen to it, reflect, learn...then listen to it again.
No real content, just a number of stories and a list of characteristics that will "qualify" you as a growth hacker. If you are looking for real information on growth hacking or growth hacking techniques look elsewhere!!
"Great book indeed!"
Much more than just marketing insights and futuristic overviews! It makes you think on how much have change in such short period and how soon everything will be different.
