Publisher's Summary
In January 1956, a tragic story flooded headlines around the world. Five men, spurred by a passion to share the good news of Jesus Christ, ventured deep into the jungles of Ecuador. Their goal: to make contact with an isolated tribe whose previous response to the outside world had been to attack all strangers.
Through Gates of Splendor, the story of Nate Saint, Roger Youderian, Ed McCully, Pete Fleming, and Jim Elliot, was first recorded in 1956 by Jim's widow, Elisabeth. Decades later, its story of unconditional love and complete obedience to God still inspires new readers. This edition contains subsequent developments in the lives of the families and the Waodani tribe.

Inspirational!
I have been familiar with this wonderful story of service and sacrifice for some time but listening to the book restored the excitement of missionary life, the devotion of the men and women involved in it and the power of faith in the sovereign Lord who puts treasure in jars of clay.

Great story
A great story told through the lens of Jim Elliot's wife.
I had read and understood much of this story before listening to it so sadly wasn't as blown away as I'd hoped to be.
I was impressed with the life of Nate Saint which opened up further exploration.
if you're unfamiliar with this story then start here first. The commitment they showed to their faith is at another level and therefore makes this story great to listen to.
