The Game recounts the incredible adventures of the everyday man who transforms himself from a shy, awkward writer into the quick-witted, smooth-talking Style, a character irresistible to women. But just when life is better than he could have ever dreamed (he uses his techniques on Britney Spears, receives life coaching from Tom Cruise, moves into a mansion with Courtney Love, and is officially voted the World's Number One Pickup Artist), he falls head over heels for a woman who can beat him at his own game.
Jaw-dropping and hilarious, The Game reveals the naked truth about sex, love, and relationships - and getting exactly what you want.

not the story i expected but loved how honest it was with the pros and cons! really makes you think
This is my third reading of this book the first time was when it came out. the second was 5 years later when I went through a bad break up and needed something to lift my spirits and now when I'm board.
But the problem with the audio book is it's not all here. There is more in the hard copy and I feel the hard copy has a better flow to it.
Also now that I am older married and have kids I feel this book comes across a bit childish, but I think that is due to the subject not Neil Strauss his book Emergency helped me get through some paranoia and I'm about to start reading The Truth.
to sum up its a good story and a fun time but not in the audio format.
Good anecdote. The ideas behind are sound and will help the extremely shy or/and socially awkward. Emotionally mature and experienced people will find I comical.
It was a good story. Fun to listen to and good flow.
You wish that he would repeat the abreviations more often. There are so many of them. If you don't listen to the book in on session, you struggle with remembering what he is talking about.
This book is full of Life lessons I wish I knew and was able to execute in the right situations. With glimpses and explanations into the popular culture of the noughties. Enjoyed it from start to finish
"Weird, sad, but interesting"
I decided to listen to this book because I wanted to find out what the Pick Up Artist community is all about, why it exists and what they do. I find the whole PUA culture weird, disturbing and rather tragic, but I found this book very interesting and compelling.
It doesn't say good things about our society that the PUA community is so large and that guys feel this is the best, or only, way to meet women. I understand that part of the process if to make men feel more confident in themselves and therefore make them happier and more attractive. This seems like the positive part of the process, but they way they go about it and their attitudes towards women are just WEIRD. It seemed like they saw women as another species who have to be tricked and manipulated, or even a collectible card game where you try and get the special edition card that the other guys covet the most. It didn't seem like they were getting to know women or picking up girls they were personally interested in, but trying to score the 'prizes' they thought would most impress other men.
I don't think this is a book to listen to if you want to learn the PUA techniques, but it's very entertaining if you want to find out about the culture and what they were up to at the time this was written (apparently things have changed and the movement has split into competitive factions all trying to cash in on some mens inability to talk to women).Overall, although I enjoyed the craziness of the car-crash being played out in the book, it made me feel pretty sad about the state of male/female relationships, and I had to keep reminding myself that these guys are in the minority. The narration is good and the pace of the book is good too.
I found this book very entertaining. It was easy to listen and get into this novel, and not once did it lose my attention.
"Entertaining but don't expect to be educational"
A great and interesting story. A entertaining book with some good pick up tips. It's not a "educational" book, but it was good reading.
"A noughtys hit I missed and now caught up."
a load of nonsense made entertaining. a strange premise which just about worked. I wouldn't recommend but when this first came out I was in my later teens and was forever being mentioned in the lad mags as a kind of dark art guide to bedding whoever you want. glad I satisfied curiosity but all just a bit far fetched to be believed and had , for me, a now bygone attitude for women that I have since grown out of and left behind.
"A fascinating rabbit hole"
I really enjoyed it, very fascinating material. Would listen to again. Only problem I had was at certain parts Neil Strauss gets caught up in the words as if he's reliving it.
"Waste of money ant, most important, time."
Waste of money ant, most important, time. Few good point which can be easily explained in half an hour
"if you like this sort of thing"
i got this book because of all the hype. which is why maybe iam so disappointed. as it just poor. its just a story about him and this group of men, who want to have sex with girls. trying to make the process mystical and special. it would be funny until you reailize this is real. its kind of sad. i was into this when i was like 12 years old.
iam being hard, if you want like a comic sort of book, about chasing women, without much jokes, then get it. but if you want something deeper, don't waste your credit.
"strong start, forlorn middle satisfying end!"
very well read in the authors on words seemed to loose track in the middle but worth a buy.
"Best book I have had read to me in a long time"
This was actually far more human and rounded than I was expecting. How will it affect my game? I have no idea.
"I loved this as much as the book."
I loved this as much as the book.
just disappointed about the couple of cut parts
when they were travelling around Europe.
fantastic book. i love the way it was written. a bit far fetched with the techniques to get women....but entertaining nevertheless
"Read it years ago and still love it"
loved the audio with strauss himself narrating. such a great story and helpful guideline to help anyone with not only female interaction, but human interaction in general.
"Interesting and entertaining"
I read this a few years ago and decided to hear to from the man himself. Was read really well and if you are interested in these subjects then this really is a very entertaining book. The only shame is that half the recording it sounds like Neil has a cold and a very blocked nose, slightly distracting!
