Story
Peter Asher met the Beatles in the spring of 1963, the start of a lifelong association with the band and its members. He had a front-row seat as they elevated pop music into an art form, and he was present at the creation of some of the most iconic music of our times. But Asher was also a talented musician in his own right, with a great ear for what was new and fresh. Once, when Paul McCartney wrote a song that John Lennon didn’t think was right for the Beatles, Asher asked if he could record it.

When Stewart Copeland gets dressed, he has an identity crisis. Should he put on "leather pants, hostile shirts, and pointy shoes"? Or wear something more appropriate to the "tax-paying, property-owning, investment-holding lotus eater" his success has allowed him to become? This dilemma is at the heart of Copeland's vastly entertaining memoir-in-stories, Strange Things Happen.

An early architect of punk rock's sound, style, and fury, whose lip-curling sneer and fist-pumping persona vaulted him into pop's mainstream as one of MTV's first megastars, Billy Idol remains, to this day, a true rock 'n' roll icon. Now, in his long-awaited autobiography, Dancing with Myself, Idol delivers an electric, searingly honest account of his journey to fame - from his early days as front man of the pioneering UK punk band Generation X to the decadent life atop the dance-rock kingdom he ruled.

Story
Through roles in cherished films such as Mrs. Doubtfire, Jumanji, Aladdin and Hook, he became the genial face of family comedy. His childlike enthusiasm was infectious, sweeping viewers away. Allied to his lightning-quick improvisation and ability to riff lewdly off any cue thrown at him, Robin was that rare thing - a true comic genius who appealed to adults and children equally. He could also play it straight, and empathetic depth came to him naturally.

Publisher's Summary
There's only one book that ever truly got inside the Beatles, and this is it....
During 1967 and 1968, Hunter Davies spent 18 months with the Beatles at the peak of their powers as they defined a generation and rewrote popular music. As their only-ever authorised biographer, he had unparalleled access - not just to John, Paul, George, and Ringo, but to friends, family, and colleagues. He collected a wealth of intimate and revealing material that makes this the classic Beatles book - the one all other biographers look to. Hunter Davies remained close with the band and as such has had access to more information over the years.
This 40th anniversary edition contains new material which has never been revealed before, from the author's archives and from the Beatles themselves, that will bring new insights to their legend.

Brilliant biography and narration
Has given me a much better understanding of a group and people living and working in its individual story lines and their perspectives that I (incorrectly) "thought I knew" from just listening to their songs and listening popular cultures stories/media over the years.
Wonderful book and great narration.

Informative for The Beatles fans
Very good and informative. Someone who was actually with John and Paul as they constructed some of their most iconic hits.
Only downside was 1985 update where Paul was still resentful of John and came across as bitter. More recent interviews with Paul he has only love for his collaborative soulmate.

The Beatles Insider Tells All
Considered to be one of if not The Beatles main biographer, Hunter Davies tells us all in this fantastic book. Clearly intrusted with the story and personal history of The Fab Four, this book brings to life facts and secrets even hardcore fans may not know about, and even helps confirm some. It is fantastic as well that it had updates to the story of the band since the book's original release in 1968. Although this presents Hunter's outdated idea that Yoko was the cause of the bands split. Though then again, blaming Yoko has always been an outdated idea. John Telfer does a wonderful job narrating the story, he could have done better in some places and voices in terms of which people he was impersonating but his narration still keeps you firmly seated and interested. This is a must listen/read for any casual fan or hardcore fan like myself. Hunter Davies you did us good.

Yeah Yeah Yeah
As a younger Beatles fan who never saw them I read this book years ago, and it was my introduction to Beatlemania .... nothing has changed over the years, if you want to understand what it was all about, this is the book to get.
