Story
Welcome to Jeremy's farm. It's an idyllic spot, offering picturesque views across the Cotswolds, bustling hedgerows, woodlands and natural springs. Jeremy always liked the idea being a farmer. But, while he was barrelling around the world having more fun with cars than was entirely reasonable, it seemed obvious that the actual, you know, farming was much better left to someone else. Then one day he decided he would do the farming himself. After all, how hard could it be?

You go through the right-hander at something like 170 miles per hour, leant right over, eyes fixed as far down the road as I can see. But this time something happened. In his 17 years as a Formula 1 driver, Jenson Button has picked up a thing or two about how to do the job properly. Sure, you need to be able to drive a car fast - and Jenson is on hand to pass on a few tricks of the trade here - but you also need to know the real rules for making it to the top. Like, how to tell a multiple F1 champion they need to check their blind spot. What the difference is between a helmet and a hat, and indeed a 'helmet-hat'. Story
No driver has ever made such an instant impact on the sport of Formula 1 racing as Lewis Hamilton. The first black grand prix driver, his astonishing level of success in his rookie season together with his swash-buckling, attacking style has created a sensation. It has also been a central factor in the most exciting and controversial season of F1 in living memory as Hamilton was involved in a three-way fight for the world crown.
Publisher's Summary
Richard Hammond describes his childhood and adolescence and the emergence of the adrenalin junkie, the first ridiculous stunts on his tricycle, and an increasing and near-obsessive attraction to speed and the smell of petrol. He finds an attractive girl, Mindy, who shares his interests and helps him organise his high-speed life. For such a lively and intelligent communicator, TV beckons and he becomes one of the daredevil trio, with Jeremy Clarkson and James May, who make such an enormous world-wide success of the revamped BBC-TV programme Top Gear.
He describes the personalities, the camaraderie, and the stunts with which they entertain their weekly audiences until the day of his 300 mph crash that took Top Gear off the air and plunged a nation into mourning. The day of the crash, his rescue and the flight to hospital in a coma are described, and then Mindy recounts the anxious waiting until he finally emerges from his coma to immediately pull out all his life-support equipment.
Richard then pieces together the stages of recovery as his shattered mind slowly reforms. We learn exactly what happened to him and the milestones in his slow recovery to full health. The final chapter recounts the return to Top Gear and the screening of the events of that fateful day.

I grew up on Top Gear with Richard, Jeremy and James. Was only a kid when Richard had his accident but I remembered references being made in later episodes and seasons, it’s great to get a behind the scenes look at what happened that terrifying day.

The quality of narration is superb both from Richard and his wife. I genuinely shed tears at Mindy’s remembered distress.

A cat with 9 lives!
This book is full of so many mixed emotions and the story telling is brilliant. I laughed, I cried and I sat in utter amazement of the life and love that Mindy and Richard share. Not many people can honestly say that they have such a pure connection with another human being. The accident bought them closer together and made them so strong. Richard is definitely a 1 in a million kind of guy who against all odds, comes back and keeps pushing the boundries. He is most definitely a cat with 9 lives! This book is a MUST download and you won't regret it.

Mindy Hammond is the angel everyone needs in their life
Mindy had me in tears in minutes and I did not stop crying until the book was finished.
While I loved learning more about Hammond’s childhood and early career, Mindy really stole the show with her honesty and detail. I cannot imagine how horrible and hard this must have been for her to write, let alone record, but I am so grateful for her strength in doing so.
You need to listen to this book, especially if you’re in need of a good cry.
