The story was more amazing than I anticipated. Great story for anyone who wonders what Christianity looks like.
"It's a mix"
No doubt that this story is amazing. That makes it worth reading alone. The writing was mediocre, and I wasn't a fan of the reader.
"Maybe it was the narrator?"
It was read in such a way, that I felt I was listening to a childrens story of misadventure...
"good Christian book"
gets sad, but overall very good book. highly recommended. Has good application for today's Christian.
"A must read"
An engaging, moving story that reminds us that each day is held in God's hands. A true story of patience in affliction, love of enemies, and forgiveness.
I really enjoyed reading this biography of Gracia Burnham. I remember when that took place and so it was great to read the details of the story and her responses to what happened. She did an excellent job of retelling her tale of difficult and painful circumstances and it encouraged me to "walk joyfully" to what is going on at any given time.
Yes, to better aquaint myself with the captives and to be inspired by their strength and courage to keep going.
Gracia, she reminded me of myself. One minute she's strong & standing up to the captors and the next she's crying wishing it was all over with. You can be strong only so long then you hit your breaking point & emotions just boil over. But I think she handled herself very well.
This is my 1st audio book, but it seemed to, yes.
Follow these missionaries through hell and back.
