Danny Wallace is about to turn 30. Recently married and living in a smart new area of town, he's swapped pints down the pub for lattes and brunch. For the first time in his life, he's feeling, well...grown-up.
But something's missing. Something he can't quite put his finger on. Until he finds an old address book, containing just 12 names. The names of his best mates as a kid. Where are they now? Who are they now? And how are they coping with being grown-up too?
And so begins an epic journey - from Berlin to Tokyo, Los Angeles to Loughborough - as Danny sets out to find and meet the old gang. He meets Fijian chiefs. German rappers. And a carvery manager who's managed to solve time travel. But how will they react to a long-lost friend turning up out of the blue to see if they're coming out to play? Can you be friends forever?
Danny thinks he knows...because he's got Friends Like These...

"Okay for a free extract."
I think this extract changed from the last time I heard it. shouldn't give reviews on extracts but this sounds decent.
This is only a few minutes long so there's not something that you can pick out.
As he is talking about his own life it feels like a friend telling you his story. Also as a performer his timing is pretty good.
From the little that's there it make me wanna go and see what my old friends are upto now. Although I guess we haven't kept in touch because we all find other more important connections.
This has made me interested in getting the complete book.
"Danny Wallace Classic"
You will never be disappointed with Danny Wallace. Funny, interesting, and some would say 'Life Changing'!
Very short but slightly emotional. however not very interesting with no meaning to get into it
"Impossible to tell....."
I'd say either buy the book itself or save yourself five minutes - too short to really tell if the book will be any good. You can, however, tell the performance is very good.
I might.....having looked at the list of DW's titles they seem, in the main, to be very expensive for what you get in terms of listening hours.....but maybe it's quality and not quantity? Personally I like / want both.....
In five minutes...I think N/A
I think even the soundbite generation can manage 5 minutes so yes!!
To be serious for a moment....this needed to be about 15-20 minutes to really be able to tell if this will be enjoyable...I have a sneeky suspicion it will be, but I also have a certain amount of foreboding...will it try too hard? Is it the kid at the back who isn't cool because he is always trying too hard to BE cool?
"very engaging and easy to relate to"
Completely relate to this with cliches and the changing of age :) very amusing and an easy listen to. Definitely one for my list
