Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Fever Pitch, by Nick Hornby, read by Julian Rhind-Tutt.

As a young boy, growing up in the Home Counties and watching his parent's marriage fall apart, Nick Hornby had little sense of home. Then his dad took him to Highbury.

Arsenal's football ground would become the source of many of the strongest feelings he'd ever have: joy, humiliation, heartbreak, frustration, and hope.

In this now-classic book, he vividly depicts his troubled relationship with his father, his time as a teacher, and his first loves (after football), all through the prism of the game, as he insightfully and brilliantly explores obsession, and the way it can shape a life.

Thoughtful and evocative

The view into Hornby’s life through the eyes of a zealous Arsenal fan is fascinating. The reader was great and the insights in a club that I supported as a kid told me I didn’t really take much notice of them.

The detail seems excessive at times, but without it you wouldn’t get the intensity of the feelings he experienced standing week after week on the terraces.

I’ve pretty much lost interest in professional sports, but this took me back to an era when it meant something to be there and be able to reach out and touch the players when they took a throw in.

great book. faulty file

The chapters are all jumbled up. Would avoid downloading until this problem has been resolved, obviously makes it a confusing listen.

Technical Fault

The first 25 chapters in the audiobook are in the correct order and then the remaining chapters are all in the wrong order being read from the last chapter of the book back to chapter 26
