On December 6, 1995, three key members of the infamous Essex Boys gang were lured to a deserted farm track on the pretense of planning a robbery. As the trio sat in their Range Rover, two gunmen approached the open rear door of the vehicle. Moments later, the first shots rang out signaling the start of a swift, yet bloody massacre. When the weapons fell silent, the three men lay dead.
Before the gun smoke had cleared, rumors laced with innuendo and lies had begun circulating throughout the Essex underworld and beyond. Who really killed Tony Tucker, Pat Tate and Craig Rolfe soon became the greatest mystery in British criminal history.
Despite countless books, films, and documentaries pointing accusing fingers at an array of suspects, no clear cut version of events backed by hard evidence has emerged.
That is until now. Within this audio, former key member of the Essex Boys gang Bernard O'Mahoney breaks his silence. He is the man who knows who killed who, why, how, and when. This is his confession. This is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about the Essex Boys murders and so much more.

"Absolutely mind blowing."
Usually take ages to listen to books but once I started this I could not stop listening to the story of Bernard o Mahoney and his associates a must for true crime fans.
I'm am Essex boy.
Born in Basildon, live in wickford for over 40 yrs.
went to all the clubs mentioned from Raquel's nightclub to the country club...played football for the wheatshef pub...remember everything, brings back so many memories....
well done Bernard O'mahoney.
very well written.
"Top page turner"
Captured the mood of the time
Great voice over performance really believed he had been there
"The narrator made you believe in the story."
Yes, the narrator played the characters well and was very believable.
Bernie was the main character and the most outstanding character of the book, the narrator played the part well and made you believe in the story.
The final scene was the most enjoyable.
The Essex firm.
I had read several books narrated by Karl Jenkinson, all of the books have been well read and the characters are always believable particularly the main characters in the books.
Never really knew what lay behind the headlines, but this is a proper look into the sordid world of low-level drug importation and dealing. Amazing, that they got away with it for so long...but it was always gonna end in tears. TBH, I enjoyed it much more than I thought I was going to.
"The final Final Word"
Definitely. Great story telling and depth of characters. In honesty, I haven't listened to a huge amount of audiobooks but this whetted my appetite for the medium and the genre.
I don't really know...but, I may give 'Abide With Me' a go...seems to have an East End Crime theme running through it, which I really enjoy.
Lifted it off the page for me.
Certainly, made me laugh in places...sad in others.
I can't really recommend it highly enough...Top Drawer!
"Poor standard of reading later in book"
Around chapter 20 the narrator starts to slow down. You hear pages turn. He even clears his throat. Was a great story but let down and made it overall disappointing
"gangsters, guns etc rtc"
great listen..some dodgy editing later on, with pauses, page turning and coughs from the narrator. overall good listen
I've had loads of books from audible but this has got to be one of the most amateurish books of them all!!! You can actually hear the guy turning the pages, long pauses between chapters, throat clearing and coughing. All very off putting, the story's not bad though.
"Good but flawed"
A good story which keeps you interested. Its well read apart from the fact the reader falters a few times and you can hear him struggle to find his place which seems a bit amateurish. There are also a few points where it seems to stop mid -sentence without explanation. Overall I'd recommend but they could do with ironing out these errors.
