Story
'Between the Stops is a sort of a memoir, my sort. It's about a bus trip really, because it's my view from the Number 12 bus (mostly top deck, the seat at the front on the right), a double-decker that plies its way from Dulwich, in South East London, where I was living, to where I sometimes work - at the BBC, in the heart of the capital. It's not a sensible way to write a memoir at all, probably, but it's the way things pop into your head as you travel, so it's my way'.

Well hello to you dear audiobook browser. Now I have your attention it would be rude if I didn't tell you a little about my literary feast. So, here is the thing: is it just me or does anyone else find that adulthood offers no refuge from the unexpected horrors, peculiar lack of physical coordination and sometimes unexplained nudity, that accompanied childhood and adolescence? I am proud to say I have a wealth of awkward experiences - from school days to life as an office temp - and here I offer my 18-year-old self (and I hope you, too, dear listener) some much needed caution and guidance on how to navigate life's rocky path.

A truly funny honest update
- By jackie b on 13-05-2019
Publisher's Summary
Jennifer Saunders' comic creations have brought joy to millions. From Comic Strip to Comic Relief, from Bolly-swilling Edina in Ab Fab to her takes on Madonna or Mamma Mia, her characters are household names. But it's Jennifer herself who has a place in all our hearts. This is her funny, moving, and frankly bonkers memoir, filled with laughter, friends, and occasional heartache - but never misery.
Bonkers is full of riotous adventures: accidentally enrolling on a teacher training course with a young Dawn French, bluffing her way to each BBC series, shooting Lulu, trading wild faxes with Joanna Lumley, touring India with Ruby Wax and Goldie Hawn. There's cancer, too, when she becomes 'Brave Jen'. But her biggest battle is with the bane of her life: the Laws of Procrastination. As she admits, "There has never been a Plan. Everything has been fairly random, happened by accident or just fallen into place. I'm off now, to do some sweeping..." Prepare to chuckle, whoop, and go bonkers.

Exceptionally delightful!
I have adored Jennifer Saunders since I was a child. I can't tell you how delightful it is to hear her tell her story. She is a wonderfully interesting, intelligent and hysterical human being. The world is so much greater because she is in it. This reading illustrates this!

A nice listen
I think to enjoy this at another level you have to really be familiar with a lot of her work which I only sort of was, but her voice is delightful and friendly that it helps to make the audiobook feel like a good natter with an old friend whilst you walk round a grand English garden in the summer (in Devon )

Bloody Brilliant
I absolutely loved listening to this book and whilst Jennifer Saunders and myself lead immensely different lives.....’I’m not famous, nor do I ride horses or have a famous husband or live in Devon or have been put up in fancy hotels thanks to Goldie Hawn or had breast cancer or been to India ‘.... I found this to be completely relatable..... I love her procrastination, lack of self confidence, complete feeling of winging at life and finding the funny in everything ... my sister recommended this book and whilst listening to it I laughed and nodded in agreement so much shouting Yes! in my car a little to often .... I actually think the reason my sister and I aren’t French and Saunders is because we’re both Saunders and Saunders 😆😆 loved loved loved it and was bitterly disappointed when it came to an end .... please write more and then narrate it so I can listen and chuckle and nod my way back and forth to work each day :)
