Story
George Michael was an extravagantly gifted, openhearted soul singer whose work was both pained and smolderingly erotic. He was a songwriter of true craft and substance, and his music swept the world, starting in the mid-1980s. His fabricated image—that of a hypermacho sex god—loomed large in the pop culture of his day. It also hid—for a time—the secret he fought against revealing: Michael was gay. George Michael: A Life explores the compelling story of a superstar whose struggles, as well as his songs, continue to touch fans all over the world.

Story
From 1783, when German immigrant John Jacob Astor first arrived in the United States, until 2009, when Brooke Astor’s son, Anthony Marshall, was convicted of defrauding his elderly mother, the Astor name occupied a unique place in American society. The family fortune, first made by a beaver trapping business that grew into an empire, was then amplified by holdings in Manhattan real estate. Over the ensuing generations, Astors ruled Gilded Age New York society and inserted themselves into political and cultural life, but also suffered the most famous loss on the Titanic.

What does “Give them Lala” mean? It means giving the truest, most honest version of yourself to the world. It means being authentic, bold, adventurous, and having an unapologetic approach to life. Hollywood is where Lauren Burningham, aspiring actress from Utah, fully embraced her alter-ego Lala Kent, entrepreneur, entertainer, and film and television star. Some say she’s rude; Lala says she claps back. Some say she’s too bold; Lala knows she’s reality TV gold. Truth is, without giving them Lala, Lauren could never have become the woman she is today.

Publisher's Summary
In The Most Beautiful, a title inspired by the hit song Prince wrote about their legendary love story, Mayte Garcia for the first time shares the deeply personal story of their relationship and offers a singular perspective on the music icon and their world together: from their unconventional meeting backstage at a concert (and the long-distance romance that followed) to their fairy-tale wedding (and their groundbreaking artistic partnership) to the devastating losses that ultimately dissolved their romantic relationship for good. Throughout it all they shared a bond more intimate than any other in Prince's life. No one else can tell this story or can provide a deeper, more nuanced portrait of Prince - both the famously private man and the pioneering, beloved artist - than Mayte, his partner during some of the most pivotal personal and professional years of his career. The Most Beautiful is a book that will be returned to for decades, as Prince's music lives on with generations to come.
Written and read by Mayte Garcia.

A wonderful, heartfelt work that honours the memory of Prince
I've been an enthusiastic fan of Prince's work since the mid-80's. with this book, Mayte has put together a truely inspiring story, taking us on the roller coaster ride that was her decade+ long relationship with Prince.
It brought back so many wonderful memories of the Prince concerts & after parties I've attended, including the first time he toured Sydney (with a young Mayte) in the Diamonds and Pearls tour.
I just want to thank Mayte for sharing her heart with us. The world is still grieving the loss of this musical genius and this book helps to salv the wounds left when he left us.
Listening to the audio version, read by Mayte made it alll the more touching.
Thank you Mayte, may God bless you and your most beautiful family.

Exceptional Book!!
Mayte gave an exceptional performance of this wonderful story. It really did feel like it was from the heart, and you felt all her emotions, especially during the unfortunate parts of her life, but even the uplifting moment she finally had the child she so badly wanted. I cried a number of times. Thank you for a wonderful book Mayte.

A beautiful love story
Loved this story from start to finish. Told in a very respectful and loving manner, Mayte bares her soul and gives an intimate insight into life with the legend. It's so much more than just about this one man. There's something to be said about writing a memoir when the time is right. Some do so too early and you can tell they're skimming the surface. This story is raw and honest and insightful. It covers love, loss, music, art, religion, heartbreak, betrayal, hope, motherhood, adoption and more - I didn't want it to end.

this was beautiful, I cried, I laughed, I smiled, I loved along with Mayte and Prince, he went from being this amazing un touchable supernova that I will always feel sad and disappointed that I never got to see perform live, to being a human being, flawed like all of us, sometimes sad like me.... I miss him as if I knew him personally....I loved this so much, Mayte told this story with respect, love, emotion and compassion...I'm so in love with this story
