The secrets of creative thinking by a lecturer at the world-famous St. Martin's College of Art who has spent a lifetime researching innovative thinkers.
A scuba-diving company faces bankruptcy because sharks have infested the area. Solution? Open the world's first extreme diving school.
The Art of Creative Thinking reveals how we can transform ourselves, our businesses, and our society through a deeper understanding of human creativity. Rod Judkins, of the world-famous St. Martin's College of Art, has studied successful creative thinkers from every walk of life throughout history. Drawing on an extraordinary range of reference points - from the Dada manifesto to Nobel Prize-winning economists, from Andy Warhol's studio to Einstein's desk - he distills a lifetime's expertise into a succinct, surprising book that will inspire you to think more confidently and creatively.
You'll realise why you should be happy when your train is cancelled; meet the most successful class in educational history (in which every single student won a Nobel prize); discover why graphic nudity during public speaking can be both a hindrance and surprisingly persuasive; and learn why, in the 21st century, it's technically illegal to be as good as Michelangelo.
Be stubborn about compromise. Plan to have more accidents. Be mature enough to be childish. Contradict yourself more often. Discover the art of creative thinking.

Love the format. Great stories and messages simplified in short informational chunks. Really inspirational. After reading the entire book cover to cover, I now start every day listening to a random chapter for extra inspiration.
Yes , I would, there are so many little gold nuggets in this. Great book for business and entrepreneurs to help get them thinking about how to better their business and improve.
Loved every bit of it and it's full of examples to support the ideas, not just empty words. It's so inspiring! I feel like this book has taken me back to where my true self is; where joy and happiness is. So my non-conforming nature is not something to be frowned upon afterall, hahaha. Can't wait to listen to it again!!
awesome and thought provoking. full of contradictions and supportive information design to get you arguing with yourself and thus ignite your own imagination and creativity.
It's not one of those airy fairy pie in the sky creative talks. Firstly, the chapters are 5 mins long- short, sweet and entertaining. Each chapter points out something to think about and then encourages you to follow that inspiration in a non- linear way. ultimately this book challenges you to be observant and critical of your positive and negative habits, ane how to use them to better your situation. I cannot recommend this enough. .
"Intelligent, thought provoking fun. "
I very much enjoyed this book as it was thought provoking and inspiring all at the same time.
The book doesn't take itself too seriously but the life lesson it is teaching has already affect my family life!
As my wife had decided to leave a dead end stressful job in an office to pursue her lives dream of becoming a makeup artist. She was wavering but just listening to one short chapter made her realise her decision was indeed the right one. And made me decide to do more to help my wife fulfil her dream.
life after all is about discovering happiness in whatever form that may be.
I've read many books on art and creativity, that being said, this one stands out from all the rest. For me, it has pulled together years of learning and turned it into a razor sharp creative process, couldn't be happier.
"Fantastically thought provoking!"
As someone who doesn't identify as remotely creative I was a bit sceptical about reading this book at first but thought it was time to push my comfort boundaries a bit! I can honestly say this is probably the best book I have ever read and has given me a totally new perspective on life and how to be a creative problem solver.
This book is absolutely unique and the author has done an incredible job at cutting the book up into small bitesize interesting easy to remember points whilst ensuring the book is littered with interesting stories to back this up! Give this book a read - I promise it won't disappoint and might lead to something spectacular!
Yes,and have done so already. Simple, directive, good ancedotes, and it works!
Not really applicable, but I liked the idea of students working a route regardless of where it takes them, and the process of developing a Soap in Dubai. There are many great anecdotes of how people have connected to their creativity throughout the book.
It is read very well.
"Mad, fun, and absolutely bonkers: unleashing your creativity"
This is an excellent book
Really enjoyed this and it has made me realise how there is no such thing as a 'natural born talent' but determination, attitude and perseverance. Would recommend to anyone and everyone who needs inspiration to start anything and everything.
Superb for anyone looking on a motivation. Artists grab it and not hesitate. One of the best books I had pleasure to listen to
"So many chords were struck by the author"
Quite superb and a most enjoyable experience. As a photographer I am reassured that is not just me that thinks like the author.
this book is full of inspiring stories. the one that stands out the most was how the inventor of Viagra presented his discovery.
"Full of interesting anecdotes!"
Great collection of interesting stories. More suitable for dropping in and consuming a chapter here and there. Becomes a little tedious to read straight through (as the author acknowledges in the book).
Innovative, out of the box chat.
The 2 person lesson.
I listen to audiobooks as I'm making artwork in my studio. I found this really enjoyable.
