England’s bravest monarch, history’s deadliest outlaw, this year’s greatest adventure.
May 1194: Richard the Lionheart is in Normandy, locked in a long and bloody war with the French. By his side are Robert Odo, Earl of Locksley - the former outlaw Robin Hood - and Sir Alan Dale, Robin's protégé, a musician and warrior of great renown.
As battles rage and bodies pile up, Alan embarks on a mission to track down the man who ordered his father's death 10 years earlier. But the trail leads him to Paris, deep in the heart of enemy territory - where even Robin might not be able to rescue him.
From the dank, witch-haunted depths of Sherwood to the high castles of Aquitaine, from stinking dungeons of medieval Paris to the blood-stained chivalry of the Battle of Gisors, Robin and Alan must prove their mettle as lords of war, defeat their shadowy enemy and win glory for themselves and their lionhearted king.…

"Loved this book!"
Narration was even better than the previous book. I was totally enthralled with the story and didn't want it to end.
"I wasn't expecting THAT!"
I think this is by far my favourite of the Robin Hood books so far. I've binged on several historical novel series and this book epitomises what a great series book should be like. There was a great extension of the overall story arc, there were lots of little mini-adventures and it all tied up at the end.
I've already bought the next book which is probably just as well as there isn't really any cliffhanger at the end of this one. Which is good, I just hope we're not seeing a desperate second phase of books with the same plot driven by the publisher rather than the writer.
Let's find out!
Oh - and the voice characterisation just gets better. I had a little bit of concern about Mike Rogers. In the beginning of the series, but he's really settled into the characters and it's. Impressive how he switches between them line by line. Wonderful!
"Another great read"
A well told audio story that brought some great characters (old and new) to life/death
