When a set of Russian oligarchs are assassinated in London, the Russian expat community become anxious.
One man appeals to the British government for protection and MI5 assigns Spider Shepherd to the case. But he soon discovers that the killings aren't political - they're personal, and the assassin is much nearer than anyone could conceive. And that's not the only score Spider must settle.
Asked by a group of ex-colleagues to hunt down a former Taliban tyrant who has claimed UK asylum by assisting the British government, Spider is forced to decide between his sense of justice and his job. For as he struggles to save the life of one man, he's on a path to extinguish another.

"Enjoyable, but anticlimactic"
Scottish characters could not easily be distinguished - similar voices, accents and dialogue.
The plot is straightforward with enough suspense and pace to keep the narrative moving at a good pace.
I found that there seemed to be difficulty distinguishing the three Scottish characters - they have similar voices and conversational patterns.
The first Stephen Leather book I read was rough justice, and by comparison, true colours was slightly disappointing. i am likely to purchase more stephen leather audio books as they are contemporary and appear to follow a tried and true formula wherein the "goodies" come out on top. both of the titles that i own have done enough to want me to read more.
"Russians Guns and Bristish heroes..."
Really well read audible page turner, the story rambles about a bit but you know where you are heading, and you'll not be disappointed when you get there...
Spider is a believable character.
"far from his best"
I love Stephen Leather books especially the Spider Shepherd ones but I really struggled to finish this one, it was like wading through mud. sorry Stephen, not for me this time
"another great story"

"Reads like a true action movie!"
I couldn't stop listening, it was so good. Incredible multi-voice/accented narration for characters. Just brilliant.
hours of boring driving made bearable an enjoyable listen was a plot you couldnt guess keeping you intrigued eyes on the road head in the book
"Love Stephen Leather audio books"
Yes, listening to audible books is so relaxing
I just love the Dan Shepard audio books
"Its the modern references that grab you"
I'd like to meet Stephen Leather, he has a handle on modern issues and slips them in continuously throughout his novels. The protagonist is what you want in an audiobook. Predictable but comfortable. Who wants to read/listen to a hero who loses, save that for the intelligentsia among us. A good listen, well narrated and an author with a good imagination. Whats not to like?
"Another Amazing Book"
I have all of the Dan Shepherd books. All are amazing and this one is no differant. Stephen Leather has a great way of changing the pace of the story. I slow part of the story will fly past. I fast intense part will have you going WOW. All books link into one another and have a great story line.
Dan Shepherd books are amazing If you like crime and cop storys the Dan Shepherd Books are a must.
Next book Please.
Paul Thornley is great and helps the story. It feels like he is enjoying the story and if so it shows.
"Another great book from Stephen."
I have avidly followed Stephen Leather and his Jack Nightingale character so wondered if I would be as enthusiastic about this book. I should not have worried, a good plot, some great accents and great pace to keep me wanting more. The world of the oligarch is something I will never be near to but this is an insight into that world, even taking into account this is fiction. I think the narrative is so important when listening to these audio books, the wrong voice can really put me off but Paul is great. He does not seem to have a problem with whatever is thrown at him.
"Stephen Leather and my fav character Spider"
Yes, good read, full characters and always an exciting story line.
Spider of course, I've read all of Stephen Leather's book and as you read them you follow the process of Spider's life and career - personal and professional
I love Paul Thornley as a reader of audiobooks and always listen to book he reads, He is great with bringing the characters to life with the accents.
The struggle the Afghan father has to choose to fight for his country and beliefs and the welfare and education of his daughter.
