Late at night in a New York café army-cop-turned-drifter Jack Reacher orders coffee in a cup made of foam, not china, so that he can move on at a moment’s notice.
He owns nothing, carries less, has never encountered a female colleague he can’t bed, or a case he can’t solve.
But now Reacher is confronted by a situation so disturbing and deceptive that the truth eludes him.
Has he painted targets on the good guys’ backs?
So Reacher starts over at square one. He sweats the details and works the clues. As they used to say back in the service, he’s doing it the hard way. Until what started on a busy New York street explodes three thousand miles away in the sleepy English countryside. With Reacher striding alone in the shadows. Armed and dangerous. Invincible.

It's a slow burner. It creeps up on you, like a good thriller. Jack does all the hard yards, investigating as only he knows how, then bam! He switches from sleuth to judge, jury and executioner!
"Jefff Harding makes these books for me."
Narrator Jeff Harding is quality, I always love the books they are not overly complex but they are great fun.
"Reacher - awesome."
Loved it. The location for the latter part of the book was great, Lee obviously did his research well.
Any other Lee Child novel
Yes, it was just as good and he manages to do the different voices well.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer
Great book but the ending is quite abrupt. Would definitely suggest listening to it.
"Gripping, exciting and excellent story. "
My favourite Jack Reacher story, totally gripping and great twists and turns throughout. can't wait for the next Jack Reacher story.
"Jack Reacher : The hard way"
Gripping storey , hard action, descriptive events across three Continents,.
Narrative in a staccato delivery in keeping .
liked the main character, hard with morals.
"Possibly the best Jack Reacher novel of them all!!"
Yes, story is full of great little twists. Kept me guessing.
Reacher, of course. The true personification.
The change of location in the last third of the book. Its where I live; great for my involvement as a fly on the wall.
If you have ever been interested in the Reacher series of novels; this is one of the most engaging. I would recommend Killing Floor to start with, obviously, but this novel can easily be read as a stand alone.
"another enjoyable jack teacher book"
I found I couldn't stop listening to this book. very engaging, good suspense and plot twist. highly recommend.
"Possibly the best one yet"
Having listened to 90% of the Jack Reacher Novels, I can honestly say this is probably one of the best yet. A great story, lots of twists and turns and a great climax.
It's filmic and well paced. Well read and and gripping.
If you like Reacher, you will love this.
"Gripping and enthralling edge of your seat stuff!"
I can honestly say that I had my reservations to begin with here. This was my first Jack Reacher adventure, but I can honestly tell you I enjoyed this book so much it certainly won't be the last. Be warned. The narrator has a bit of an issue with swallowing and gulping sounds in between dialogue. It drove me mad for the first few hours and I considered ditching it, but I persisted and it turned out the narrator made up for the weird noises he makes with his talent for narrating and incredibly good character impersonations. Bravo gulping narrator. This story is incredibly entertaining with a gripping storyline that has more twists than a formula one racing track. You won't be wasting a credit here, you'll be investing in 11 hours of pure entertainment.
"Perfect in all ways"
Excellent one of his best with excellent reading and good full on story telling Reacher at his peak.
