Story
A collection of five suspenseful gems by master storyteller Frederick Forsyth, best-selling author of The Day of the Jackal and The Odessa File. Justice does not always come easily, and it comes in many guises. On the seedier side of London, a shopkeeper witnesses a brutal beating in The Veteran. In a better neighborhood, a famous London auction house is scammed in The Art of the Matter. And there's more … the other stories venture to a persecution in 16th century Sienna, a mid-flight drug smuggling heist, and the lone survivor of Custer's Last Stand. The voices of narrators Patrick MacNee, Bruce Boxleitner, and Christopher Casanove truly compliments the author's genius. Mixing together the elements of great suspense - revenge, mystery, murder and deception - this collection is Forsyth at his best.

Publisher's Summary
From international best-selling thriller writer Frederick Forsyth comes a chilling new mystery.
The cocaine industry is worth billions of dollars a year to the drug cartels who spread their evil across Western society, causing incalculable misery, poverty and death. Slowly, gradually, inexorably it is spreading and it is a blight which must be stopped.
One man, Paul Devereaux, intellectual, dedicated, utterly ruthless and ex-CIA special ops, is given what seems like an impossible task. At his disposal is anything he wants – men, resources, money. And he will not stop until he has completed his mission.
Up to now, the drugs trade has been accustomed to world governments attempting to curtail their criminal activities. But up to now, those governments have played by the rules. And that is about to change. The rules no longer apply. A dirty war is about to get a whole lot dirtier....
Frederick Forsyth is the author of 11 best-selling novels, including The Day of the Jackal, The Fourth Protocol, The Fist of God, Icon, Avenger and The Afghan.
A complete and unabridged reading by John Chancer.

Enjoyable
Wouldn't say it's his best work but I don't think FF could write a bad book? The reader really needs to work on his pronunciation of foreign names though. Really poor effort there.

Definitely one of his best works
FF shows his class as one of the world's best espionage authors. A good read, and as an ex maritime patrol aviator, an operation that I would have been proud to fly. it also sums up the Western politicians' primary goal of reelection first, morality second.

Thrilling, frightening, unforgettable!
This is one to book to give a lot of thought to. Yes it’s fiction, but so much is running side by side with what is happening about us now. The attitudes, the reactions, the deadly retorts, all very much par for the Coke course. Forsyth is a master in matching people to their surroundings. It is a well crafted tale, some narration and some facts are a bit out, but what an enjoyable novel.
