Story
A poignant look at the disillusionment and angst of the post-World War I generation, The Sun Also Rises introduces two of Hemingway’s most unforgettable characters: Jake Barnes and Lady Brett Ashley. The story follows the flamboyant Brett and the hapless Jake as they journey from the wild nightlife of 1920s Paris to the brutal bullfighting rings of Spain with a motley group of expatriates. In his first great literary masterpiece, Hemingway portrays an age of moral bankruptcy, spiritual dissolution, unrealized love, and vanishing illusions.

Why does it feel so natural to be compassionate and kind to those we care about - yet so hard to treat ourselves the same way? "Our culture teaches us to use self-criticism for motivation and to build self-esteem by constantly measuring ourselves against everyone else," says Dr. Kristin Neff. "We need to re-learn the essential skill of being genuinely nurturing and supportive toward ourselves."

Story
In this stunning audiobook, Malcolm Gladwell takes us on an intellectual journey through the world of "outliers" - the best and the brightest, the most famous, and the most successful. He asks the question: What makes high-achievers different? His answer is that we pay too much attention to what successful people are like, and too little attention to where they are from: That is, their culture, their family, their generation, and the idiosyncratic experiences of their upbringing.

In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

Publisher's Summary
Maybe it was a grandparent or a teacher or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching and gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it. For Mitch Albom, that person was Morrie Schwartz, his college professor from nearly 20 years ago. Maybe, like Mitch, you lost track of this mentor as you made your way, and the insights faded. Wouldn't you like to see that person again, ask the bigger questions that still haunt you?
Mitch Albom had that second chance. He rediscovered Morrie in the last months of the older man's life. Knowing he was dying of ALS, or motor neurone disease, Morrie visited Mitch in his study every Tuesday, just as they used to back in college. Their rekindled relationship turned into one final "class": lessons in how to live. This is a chronicle of their time together, through which Mitch shares Morrie's lasting gift with the world.More from the same

Wow. To say I was moved by this book feels like an understatement. The beautiful simplicity of Morrie's teachings are a reminder of how we get so caught up in this world. Namingly with ourselves. Everybody should read this as their right of passage into the world! An essential. I bawled my eyes out and I still would have listened if it was much longer !

A beautiful touching story
This is a lovely, easy listen that reminds of some of the most important things in life.
We are all capable of not only remain students to this world, but becoming teachers. And sometimes, some of us end up like professors.
My son at 16 said, ‘some people choose boats, batches, business & houses to leave as their legacy. And that’s awesome. But your legacy will live on in the minds & the hearts of the people’.
Be like Morrie: live, live & laugh on in the minds & the hearts of people.
Thank you Mitch, for breathing life into Morrie’s legacy, & co-creating a legacy of your own, that shall forever remain in the minds & hearts of people.

Wow. Just wow.
Not going to lie, I was a little unsure of this book when I started it - I found the narration too fast, and the focus seemed to be primarily on the narrator. But as the book progressed, I began to see how it all tied in together, and the fast pace at the start of the book started to serve as a stark contrast as Morrie’s strength began to dwindle. This is a book that left me crying, smiling, and looking at the world from an entirely different perspective. 10/10 recommendation.
