Story
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction,” eating little and weighing herself five times a day. She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income.

Story
It was a perfect Wednesday morning when Alex 'Chumpy' Pullin kissed his partner, Ellidy, goodbye to go spearfishing. Most days Ellidy would go to the beach too, but that day she didn't. Later, there was a knock at the door. A man had been found unconscious on the ocean floor. It was Chumpy. From that moment, Ellidy's world stopped. There was deep grief, disbelief and then the gradual realisation that this was real. Ellidy's partner of eight years, a World Champion snowboarder, a man of energy and music, was gone.

From their beginnings in Ben Gillies' garage, this trio of high school kids from Newcastle, New South Wales, became famous with their smash-hit single 'Tomorrow', setting them on a path to domination of the Australian charts, worldwide touring and fame. So much has been written about Silverchair over the years but very little has been said by the band's members.

Story
For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Like most of us, Toni Lodge tells little white lies all the time. Whether it's "I'm five minutes away" or "It must have gone to my spam folder", most of these innocent fibs are harmless. But what if you realised that you weren't just lying about the little things, but the big "life" stuff too? When Toni sat down to write this memoir, she realized that the lies she was telling herself were hiding some pretty important home truths—about her work, her identity and her mental health. In her dogged pursuit of these truths, she brazenly explores everything.

Story
Hugh van Cuylenburg was a primary school teacher volunteering in northern India when he had a life-changing realisation: despite the underprivileged community the children were from, they were remarkably positive. By contrast, back in Australia Hugh knew that all too many children struggled with depression, social anxieties and mental illness. His own little sister had been ravaged by anorexia nervosa. How was it that young people he knew at home, who had food, shelter, friends and a loving family, struggled with their mental health, while these kids seemed so contented and resilient?

For years Pia Miranda has been stopped in the street by calls of, 'Found you!', forever linked to that character we all loved: Josie from Looking for Alibrandi. But playing Josie is only one small part of everything that has shaped the woman Pia has become. Finding My Bella Vita is a charming, honest and uplifting memoir full of heart and humour that reminds us all of the two things that matter most - love and family. (A good cannoli and some Vegemite toast also rate pretty highly!)

Finally we get to hear her side
This is a simple, quick listen very well narrated. It is the story we wanted to hear from her instead of watching several documentaries about her without her input. The truth. I applaud her honesty about her mental health struggles and the crimes against her was honestly such a human rights violation that we all just watched happen. I teared up hearing what she went through.

Strong woman
JUSTICE FOR BRITNEY SPEARS! Her parents actually entire family are narcissistic abusers. They remind me of the movie million dollar baby where Hilary swank’s character loved her family and they used her and was ungrateful and didn’t love her or care about her at all even in her death bed. I feel like Britney’s family would rather her dead than alive because money means more to them then their own flesh and blood.

Incredibly sad but so vindicating
To hear the truth of what she’s suffered over all these years at the hands of people who should have loved and cared for her is truly heartbreaking.
She was literally only seen as a cash cow and nothing more.
As a mother I struggle to comprehend how her parents could claim to love her but treat her so abominably.
It must be so incredibly cathartic for her to finally tell her story in her own way, in her own words.
I listened to this in one sitting as I just couldn’t sleep until I’d heard everything she had to say and I will definitely be buying a hard copy of this.
I honestly would not have survived what she went through.

So grateful
I’m so grateful for a Britney releasing this book and sharing her story despite the way she’s been treated by media in the past. It must have taken a lot to put her trust back in the entertainment industry that tore her down. Its harrowing in many parts. Especially the way she was treated with postnatal depression and the loss of her boys. Everything would have been different if she just had a family that supported her when she needed it the most. Definitely cried tears for her in places. I don’t think I could have survived what she went through. She deserves every happiness

Absolutely illuminating
Expertly narrated by Michelle Williams, this memoir pulls back the curtain of the brilliantly talented and horribly mistreated Britney Spears. A feminist tale for all of us and a reckoning for those who exploited her. I hope she makes a truckload of money off of this!
