Story

Story
When Detective Maria Miller walks up creaking stairs into the attic of the old brownstone she senses this isn’t an ordinary crime scene. The brutality of the murder is enough to shock even an experienced detective like Maria. But there’s something else. An unsettling presence seems to lurk in the shadows sending a chill through Maria’s bones, making her desperate to run back down the stairs and never return. The killing is identical to the murder of an actress sixty years before, a crime that tore a family apart and sent shockwaves through New York City.

Publisher's Summary
Private Detective Cormoran Strike is contacted by a worried father whose son, Will, has gone to join a religious cult in the depths of the Norfolk countryside.
The Universal Humanitarian Church is, on the surface, a peaceable organisation that campaigns for a better world. Yet Strike discovers that beneath the surface there are deeply sinister undertones, and unexplained deaths.
In order to try to rescue Will, Strike's business partner Robin Ellacott decides to infiltrate the cult and she travels to Norfolk to live incognito amongst them. But in doing so, she is unprepared for the dangers that await her there or for the toll it will take on her...
Unstoppable, The Running Grave moves Strike and Robin's story forward in the epic, unforgettable seventh instalment of the series.

Stike really hitting his stride
The storyline was amazingly intriguing, gripping in parts when you just can't put the story down. Loved this one the best as Strike really does hit his stride in this story. It is very cleverly written as the growth of Strike's personality, and the development of his family connections are very well done.

Great redemption from ink black heart.
I love this series . All bar one. IBH. This was so much better and like the prev books. The story is super scary ( cults freak me out) but so well developed. I’m so glad my Harry Potter hangover got me reading this series.
Can’t wait for the next one coz 34 hours is just so not long enough… I have not played music in my car. I’ve been so engrossed.
Can I have some more please?

Another fabulous read
I wanted to ration this book, I had waited so long for it’s release, but no within a few words I was once again hooked. Now I am waiting and hoping that the next, Strike & Robyn, book is underway and I can get through the wait with just a dozen or so rereads.
