Started out with so much potential

and then everything became way too far fetched, too many holes in the storyline. performance was good, however, too much shouting for my liking.

Enjoyable story, kept me listening.

The story kept me listening, and wanting to hear more. It did get a little repetitive in book 4, but not too annoyingly. I was able to really feel for the characters and be involved in their development.

Interesting story but the voices..

Well written, some of the voices the narrator does though get very annoying very quickly, he sounds like a robot impersonating a person, which is even worse when he reads the voice of the Computer, so he sounds like a robot impersonating a person playing a computer/robot, I am considering a refund based on this alone, good story though!

Hmmmmm!

The underlying story concept is good. I was entertained through book 1.
By book 3 it was getting hard to continue - the story elements were repeating themselves. Not much new in the story line.
I struggled through book 4. Gave up about 1 hour from completing.
Maybe the editor should have trimmed back to TWO books.

mediocre

Pseudo intellectual, romance novel.
Writing a character more intelligent than yourself is very difficult, which is unfortunate when the 5 characters are all supposed to be unparalleled, experts in their fields.
The dialogue is janky and the characters are weak and not overly believable.

"The girl with all the gifts" is quite similar in tone, but better written and more enjoyable to listen to. check that out instead.

frustrating: poor and frustrating science

I pushed through this just hoping that it would get better. the last book started seem better but maybe I was just numb to the stupidity and Bold and the Beautiful script.

Excellent book, great narration with one exception

I wish the narrator had not chosen to act out pre-recorded speech matrix (pre-read phrases combined to form sentences, like early text to speech from a decade or more ago). The AI in this story is doubtless more advanced than current generation text to speech systems, which already in 2021 are able to give moderately accurate context-specific enunciation. The chapters with the AI text to speech logs were so jarring I ended up skipping them, which really sucked as I missed some of the story - but I just couldn't listen to it after the first few. Awful! But otherwise, this book narration is top-notch and an easy listen.

Solid writing of a derivative story

I really wanted to like this series. An original invasion story is a joyful, guilty pleasure. The writing is solid and pacing good. But the whole "aliens came for our water", "chosen one has foreboding dreams", "evil alien insect and lizard things are just bio warriors", and "elements we can't identify” just left me yawning.

If you are looking for well-written sci fi that treads paths already well trodden, then you'll be contented. It's like reading a long form version of every b grade alien invasion movie ever made.

Ordinary

Plot: meh. ok. Barely engaging.

Dialogue: unrealistic. Detracts from the story, rather than adding personality

Characters: un- relatable, cliche archetypes, unlikable.

3 stars because it was free, and the author clearly tried for 33 hours long.

Voice actor: not good. But at least he tried to vary the speech for the different characters. And he had to act the unengaging story for 33 hours, which is a worthy feat.

Only listen if you are just waiting for the next month to get 1 more credit to listen to something good and you got nothing else to listen to.
