Story
Seven Bones is the story of one of the more bizarre murder investigations in Australia’s history. Two wives die in suspicious circumstances: co-incidence or, as husband Thomas Keir describes it, ‘bad luck’? Three years after Thomas Keir alleged his first wife, Jean, deserted him and her young son for another man, his second wife, Rosalina, Jean’s cousin, lay scorched and strangled on her bed. Arriving on the scene, Detective Peter Seymour realised he was either dealing with the world’s unluckiest husband or a serial wife killer.

Story
On June 25, 1973, a seven-year-old girl went missing from the Montana campground where her family was vacationing. Somebody had slit open the back of their tent and snatched her from under their noses. None of them saw or heard anything. Susie Jaeger had vanished into thin air, plucked by a shadow. As days stretched into weeks, and weeks into months, Special Agent Pete Dunbar attended a workshop at FBI Headquarters in Quantico, Virgina, led by two agents who had hatched a radical new idea: What if criminals left a psychological trail that would lead us to them?

Eight true crime stories of murder and mayhem. In my first audiobook as a true crime author I've started with a few of the stories that have haunted me for some time. Some of these stories are unbelievable in their brutality while others are astounding in the stupidity of the killers. This collection of stories are from all around the globe and have no common thread between them other than that they are both thought provoking and disturbing. The stories included in this anthology are dark and creepy and will leave you with a new understanding of just how fragile the human mind can be.

Story
Verteran investigative journalist Stevie Cameron first began following the story of missing women in 1998, when the odd newspaper piece appeared chronicling the disappearances of drug-addicted sex trade workers from Vancouver's notorious Downtown Eastside. It was not until February 2002 that pig farmer Robert William Pickton would be arrested, and 2008 before he was found guilty, on six counts of second-degree murder. These counts were appealed and in 2010, the Supreme Court of Canada rendered its conclusion.

Publisher's Summary
Discover the definitive book on the Menendez case - and the source material for NBC's Law and Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders.
A successful entertainment executive making two million a year. His former beauty queen wife. Their two sons on the fast track to success. Until tragedy struck.
Married for 26 years, Jose and Kitty Menendez appeared to be a happy couple and proud parents. Twenty-one-year-old Lyle Menendez was enrolled at Princeton, where he was a star on the tennis team. Eighteen-year-old Erik Menendez had just graduated from Beverly Hills High and was about to start college at UCLA. The Menendezes appeared to be living the American dream. But it was all a façade.
The Menendez saga has captivated and fascinated people since 1989. The killing of Jose and Kitty Menendez on a quiet Sunday evening in Beverly Hills didn't make the cover of People magazine until the arrest of their sons seven months after the murders, and the case developed an intense cult following. When the first Menendez trial began in July 1993, the public was convinced that Lyle and Erik - "the boys", as they would become known - were a pair of greedy rich kids who had killed loving, devoted parents. But the real story remained buried beneath years of dark secrets - until now.

So-so
I thought this was an interesting account of the Menendez murders. It is clear that the author has sympathy for the brothers. Do I believe the brothers about the abuse? I think so. Do I believe they thought their lives were in danger? I am not sure. Do. they deserve to spend the rest of their lives in prison. I don't know.
This is a difficult one. I do think that evidence of the abuse should be have been allowed in the retrial.

A terrible story which must be heard to the very end. No doubts about whether the brothers did it, but the tale is more complicated than that.

Thought provoking
This is such an interesting case and the author poses some interesting questions about time and context when it comes to the outcomes for the two men. Would things be different if the case was heard today, when we know more about trauma and the impact of child sexual abuse? There is a lot of information included and there has clearly been a lot of background work done to research the case. A very good example of quality true crime writing.

Fair account of what happened
Great book. I knew a lot about the case and was glad it included information on the horrendous events these boys suffered at the hands of their parents. While not an excuse for murder, it helps understand why they did what they did. I feel for them both and hope the judicial system shows leniency on their sentences.

perfectly narrated, interesting story
I didn't have huge expectations because I thought I knew everything there was to know about this case. Boy was I wrong! this was truly a deep dive into this case, we'll written and researched, really enjoyed it.
I hope that one day the brothers will be released and get to enjoy life on the outside while they're still young enough, 30 years already behind bats, is way too long.
