Publisher's Summary

Has multiple sclerosis caused you to become fearful, frustrated, or overwhelmed because your walking or mobility isn’t improving? Dr. Gretchen Hawley's The MSing Link offers a comprehensive guide to taking control of your MS symptoms and improving your mobility through MS-specific exercises and strategies.

As a physical therapist and MS certified specialist, Dr. Hawley understands the unique challenges of MS and how to address them with neuroplasticity-based exercises. The MSing Link provides step-by-step instructions and helpful tips for reducing your MS symptoms while feeling empowered through MS exercises that focus on strengthening your neural pathways and your muscles.

After listening to The MSing Link, you'll have the tools to:

  • Improve your walking on even and uneven surfaces
  • Gain leg and core strength
  • Improve your balance and reduce falls
  • Reduce fatigue
  • Modify exercises based on how your MS affects you each day
  • Manage temperature sensitivity and sensation changes
  • Feel confident that you can make a change in your mobility
  • Learn where and how to start exercising with MS

If you’ve tried physical therapy or other exercise programs in the past and they didn’t help, it’s not because of your MS or lack of effort — it was the wrong type of exercise.

By focusing on strengthening your neural pathways in addition to your muscles, you'll finally start seeing improvements in your mobility, energy, and confidence. Dr. Hawley's expertise and experience make her an invaluable resource for anyone with MS looking to improve their quality of life.

Most useful for improving balance

I purchased the audiobook after purchasing the book. I decided I wanted to “read” it sooner than I was going to have time to sit and read it, plus I have arm and hand symptoms that make holding a book/kindle hard at times. I’m so glad I bought this audiobook. She describes the exercises really well but there is also an accompanying pdf (which wasn’t in the description when I purchased the book, hence I wanted the pictures).

She goes through functional exercises, rather than “fitness” only exercises. You will also get the benefit of exercise for exercise sake, but with the aim of functional improvement. I also love how she encourages seated cardio, as it is something I can do. I have watched some of her videos, but there is so much more in this.

I highly recommend this audiobook, thank you so much Dr Gretchen.
