The Night Lords were once among the most potent forces of the Imperium, Space Marines who used fear itself as their weapon. Now, cast adrift from the Emperor's light and hunted as heretics after their monstrous betrayal, the Night Lords clad themselves in symbols of death and fight the Long War, bringing pain and terror to all who worship the corpse-god of Terra. Terra now lies within the Warmaster’s sights, the Throneworld and the seat of his father’s rule. Horus’ desire is nothing less than the death of the Emperor of Mankind and the utter subjugation of the Imperium. He has become the ascendant vessel of Chaos and amassed a terrible army with which to enact his will and vengeance. Publisher's Summary
The Cadian Gate is broken, and the Imperium is riven in two. The might of the Traitor Legions, kept shackled for millennia behind walls of iron and sorcery, has been unleashed on a darkening galaxy. Among those seeking vengeance on the Corpse Emperor’s faltering realm are the Death Guard, once proud crusaders of the Legiones Astartes, now debased creatures of terror and contagion.
Mighty warbands carve bloody paths through the void, answering their lord primarch’s call to war. And yet for all their dread might in arms, there is no escape from the vicious legacies of the past, ones that will pursue them from the ruined daemon-worlds of the Eye of Terror and out into the smouldering wastes of the Imperium Nihilus.

Making the Bad Guys Good
I really enjoyed this book, the writer was on point with his descriptions of the fallen death guard and the narrator was on point with his voice acting and narration. It was actually humanizing and showed that maybe the good guys in the universe aren't as good and benevolent as we think they might be and maybe it is worth turning down a different path.
I would love to see this link up with the Dark Imperium trilogy of which I'm eagerly awaiting a re-release.

Honestly loved seeing things from the death guards perspective. Super entertaining and macabre.. The infighting was intriguing and their musing upon their own decay was a highlight.

A must read for any deathguard fan
This book tells us so much about the deathguard, from life as a plague marine, to what the plague planet is actually like to how loyalists are turned to nurgle.
And it does this through an engaging story with genuinely interesting characters. The whole book follows the show don’t tell rule meaning we discover things through the story, not through exposition dumps. And while this does mean things can seem a little flat at the start it really keeps the flow going
I honestly can’t recommend it enough to anyone looking to learn more about the death guard.

Disjointed
A rather disjointed story that I had trouble following at times. Names seemed to close to each other and when given narration obscured what would have been easy to see in print. Nevertheless, it was an entertaining story.

Excellent Narration , Decent story
Excellent performance by the narrator he really does an excellent job bringing each character to life. The descriptions and concepts by the author of the death guard and corruption is quite good and very engaging at times. My only complaint is I feel the story could have had more action, however that said it is a worthwhile listen and a must for any Death Guard enthusiast!
