Jean-Henri Fabre (1823-1915) was a popular teacher, physicist, chemist and botanist, but is best known for his findings in the study of insects, and is considered by many to be the father of modern entomology. Much of his enduring popularity is due to his engaging manner of writing about the lives of insects in biographical form. In The Story Book of Science the wonders of plant and animal life are shared by an adult in conversations with three children.

Story
Everyone in Sleepy Hollow knows about the Horseman, but no one really believes in him. Not even Ben Van Brunt's grandfather, Brom Bones, who was there when it was said the Horseman chased the upstart Crane out of town. Brom says that's just legend, the village gossips talking. More than 30 years after those storied events, the village is a quiet place. Fourteen-year-old Ben loves to play "Sleepy Hollow boys", reenacting the events Brom once lived through. But then Ben and a friend stumble across the headless body of a child in the woods.

Story
It was the eye. The dull, sightless, vulture's eye that shredded his final nerve. But the murder was done so carefully, so perfectly, that only one thing could reveal the whereabouts of the body. B. J. Harrison gives a masterful reading of the famous murder that wouldn't keep quiet. This audiobook was the #3 best-selling audiobook in 2008 at the iTunes Music Store!

Publisher's Summary
Tom Mison, star of the hit Fox series Sleepy Hollow, narrates the classic Washington Irving short story.
In the secluded Dutch territory of Sleepy Hollow, nebbish schoolmaster Ichabod Crane competes with the town hero for the hand of Katrina Van Tassel, the 18-year-old daughter and sole child of a wealthy farmer. As Crane leaves a party at the Van Tassel's farm one autumn evening, he is pursued by the Headless Horseman, an apparition said to be the ghost of a Hessian trooper snuffed out by a stray cannonball during the Revolutionary War.

A match made in heaven.... or Sleepy Hollow to be more exact.
I’ve always enjoyed this story. Although short, it sets the scene and mood of Sleepy Hollow and its residents perfectly. To this day I’m yet to find another audiobook where the narrator is so perfectly matched to perform the story.

Absolutely loved it!! Irving def a Master writer!
Irvings' tale of Sleepy Hollow was written with such poetic prowess and grandeur!
Every decisive word had such a tummbling, descriptive, rhythm throughout without a stutter. The story was so cleverly written, inventive, curious, darkly humorous with an element of surprise and of course suspense!!
I thoroughly enjoyed Tom Misons' narration. Really nice to listen to and his tone and character portrayal was spot on!
Would listen to it again! :))

Decently written and performed yet heavily dated. Things from this time can hold up for modern readers but this just got a unlucky.
