1987: It's late summer and a time of change when a 17-year-old girl leaves the local shopping center in the sleepy town of Lowbridge and is never seen again. Her unsolved disappearance is never far from the town's memory. There's those who grew up in the shadow of her loss whose own lives were altered forever, and those who know more than they're saying. After all, Aspen has a history of drug use and a string of broken relationships to her name. But Emily knows that her disappearance is totally out of character, so she books a flight to the Northern Territory to find her. Emily's search takes her south of Darwin to every road stop and tourist trap she can find, but the only person who turns up is the last person she expected to see, her ex-husband Ben. But there is a violent killer on the loose.

Story
Her family offered a life of power and privilege, until Lotti turned away from her father’s grand plans – and towards a life that felt more like her own. With a new start as a teacher, Lotti may have even found the right man, a rough-around-the-edges single dad who’d never fit in with her high-brow upbringing, but who has started to feel like home. But Lotti isn’t the only one running. August’s strong silent demeanour may be part of his appeal, but as they get closer, his inability to talk about his past begins to jeopardise their future.

Publisher's Summary
Australian soccer mum Sarah Calhoun keeps the terrifying secrets of her time as an overseas aid worker from everyone she loves. Until two men from Northern Ireland hunt her down - one an obsessive policeman with demons of his own, the other a brutal IRA executioner, too closely connected to her past.
She is forced to return to Belfast to testify at a murder trial. But she faces an impossible choice - lie on the stand and allow a vindictive killer to run free, or tell the truth and place her children in the line of fire.
With the lives of her family and thousands of innocent people at risk, Sarah must battle her fears, overcome betrayal and find the courage to fight for the truth.
But righting the wrongs of the past just might cost her everything.

Different version perhaps ?
The book & the audio are different. The book either has more words than what’s being said on the audio or vice versa. The small details like the times being said is completely off lol.
Still a good read but would’ve been better if it were in sync with each other.
Pretty annoying.
