Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Story
When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Publisher's Summary
"You were on your way home when you died. It was a car accident. Nothing particularly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless. You left behind a wife and two children. It was a painless death. The EMTs tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me. And that’s when you met me."

Brilliant short story with brilliant narration
I’ve always loved this story since I first read it. I remember being stunned the first time I read it, in much the same way one of the characters is at a certain point. Sadly, once you know the hook it loses the element of surprise and it’s hard to read (or listen to) it again and still get the same sense of enjoyment. It’s one of those stories that you wish you could forget just so you could experience the thrill of going through it the first time again.
As for the narration, I’m not so overly enamoured of Bray’s narration in general as many others are. I think that for some books there doesn’t seem to be a lot of feeling in his narration. But here his voice is absolutely perfect for the story!
It’s short (8mins), it’s cheap, and it is absolutely worth your time, no matter what genre you prefer.

A lot can happen in 8 minutes
I spent most of the story thinking wtf? *lightbulb* Oh, I get it, so profound.
Narrator created characters beautifully through different voices.

Loved the concept - way overpriced.
The title of this review says it all, but apparently a review needs 20 words. Done.

Buyer Beware its 8 minutes long!
I feel ripped off that I spent a whole credit on 8 minutes of Andy Weir’s fabulous writing. I didn’t notice the length of the “book” until it was too late. Much swearing ensued….
Save your credit for something a bit longer. The overall story line is great but it needs more words to be fully fleshed out.
