Story
It's been centuries since the robots of Panga gained self-awareness and laid down their tools; centuries since they wandered, en masse, into the wilderness, never to be seen again; centuries since they faded into myth and urban legend. One day, the life of a tea monk is upended by the arrival of a robot, there to honor the old promise of checking in. The robot cannot go back until the question of "what do people need?" is answered. But the answer to that question depends on who you ask, and how.

Story
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

Story
On a cold spring night in 1952, a huge meteorite fell to earth and obliterated much of the East Coast of the US, including Washington, DC. The ensuing climate cataclysm will soon render the Earth inhospitable for humanity, as the last such meteorite did for the dinosaurs. This looming threat calls for a radically accelerated effort to colonize space and requires a much-larger share of humanity to take part in the process. Elma York’s drive to become the first lady astronaut is so strong that even the most dearly held conventions of society may not stand a chance against her.

Story
Tamsyn Muir’s Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap out of the audio, as skillfully animated as arcane revenants. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy. Brought up by unfriendly, ossifying nuns, ancient retainers, and countless skeletons, Gideon is ready to abandon a life of servitude and an afterlife as a reanimated corpse.

Story
The adventuring industry drives the economy of Arth, a world much like our own but with more magic and fewer vowels. Monsters' hoards are claimed, bought by corporate interests, and sold off to plunder funds long before the Heroes' Guild actually kills the beasts. Of course, that's a terrible arrangement for the Shadowkin; orcs, goblins, kobolds, and their ilk must apply for to become Noncombatant Paper Carriers (or NPCs) to avoid being killed and looted by heroes.

Once, there were four worlds, nestled like pages in a book, each pulsing with fantastical power and connected by a single city: London. Until the magic grew too fast and forced the worlds to seal the doors between them in a desperate gamble to protect their own. The few magicians who could still open the doors grew more rare as time passed and now, only three Antari are known in recent memory—Kell Maresh of Red London, Delilah Bard of Grey London, and Holland Vosijk, of White London.

Publisher's Summary
The Sunday Time best seller.
From the ground, we stand. From our ship, we live. By the stars, we hope.
The incredible new audiobook by Becky Chambers, author of the beloved The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet.
#SpacebornFew
Centuries after the last humans left Earth, the Exodus Fleet is a living relic, a place many are from but few outsiders have seen. Humanity has finally been accepted into the galactic community, but while this has opened doors for many, those who have not yet left for alien cities fear that their carefully cultivated way of life is under threat.
Tessa chose to stay home when her brother, Ashby, left for the stars but has to question that decision when her position in the Fleet is threatened.
Kip, a reluctant young apprentice, itches for change but doesn't know where to find it.
Sawyer, a lost and lonely newcomer, is just looking for a place to belong.
When a disaster rocks this already fragile community, those Exodans who still call the Fleet their home can no longer avoid the inescapable question:
What is the purpose of a ship that has reached its destination?
Critic Reviews

"The best speculative fiction currently being written." (John Connolly)
"An emotional, moving look at what it means to be human, and the importance of heritage and legacy." (Lauren James, author of The Loneliest Girl in the Universe)

Great
Enjoyed this on going series. I don’t think all the numbers etc are needed to get the idea of storyline. That I find boring, but overall a good book.

Unique
Becky Chambers; a singular voice in science fiction bringing a humanity to our future like no one else ever has. Absolutely beautifully written and a story of life affirming beauty.
Patricia Rodriguez; the perfect narrator sets this book alive with absolutely sublime reading.
Not full of space battles and laser beams but rather a more profound and intimate look at life in space amongst aliens and the stars.

Worth Every Moment
When I first read Record of a Spaceborn Few, I didn’t really ‘get’ it. But now,, after many readings and listening, I think I’m starting to, and I think that’s the point after all, isn’t it, Becky? I’m going to read it again soon, but first I’m returning to The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet again. I think there may be still more to gain from it. So many thanks.

I’m such a fan of these stories! Interesting, funny & thought provoking. Becky Chambers is a masterful storyteller & makes us care not only about the issues raised in the novel but the characters as well.

Oh stars! Love love loved it!
I adore the world Chambers has created. Her characters are so good and relatable to a contemporary reader despite their lives being set far in an imaginary future. The way Chambers introduces new people but still keeps them linked to the ones we’ve read about before is awesome!
