Story
Detective Lauren Pengelly has only been part of the Penzance police force for less than two years, but that’s enough time to know that the sleepy Cornish town doesn’t see many murders. So, when the bones of a woman with a hole in her skull are discovered behind a derelict cottage, she immediately assumes the worst. Rallying her team, Lauren is flooded with a strange sense of relief when the bones turn out to be almost twenty years old, not a recent victim. But it quickly turns to dread when she receives her second heart-stopping call of the day–a little girl, Isla, has been kidnapped.

Publisher's Summary
No Past Forgiven is the third audiobook in the Dublin Murder mystery series. It will appeal to fans of authors such as Peter James, L. J. Ross and Ruth Rendall.
Crime and criminals keep getting in the way of Detective Garda Sergeant Mike West's personal life. The woman he loves is living in his house, in his spare bedroom. It should be simple, but it isn't. He has a solution. A romantic weekend away, in a lighthouse on Clare Island. A stunning place, a beautiful woman. What could be more perfect?
When one of the islanders dies in a bizarre and a tragic accident, West is roped in to help. But it isn't an accident, and there is more than one suspect. There's also more than one secret. Can West solve the case before someone else dies?

No past forgiven
I would have preferred this book a lot more without the details of the sex scenes I think in this type of story it could have been handled a lot better. Otherwise the story was good

Not as good as previous two books.
The setting for this book was great. The story line not so. Narration was slow. The sexual scenes very graphic. Very different from the previous two books. But I will persevere and listen to more DI West books.

Irish Detective Tales (with Guinness)
Book 3 being the next installment in this excellent series, provides the reader some very thought provoking ideas, and the question... where does the author get her ideas?

Okay
Not as good as the last 2 books, and very slow to start. Once it gets into things there’s twists and turns which aren’t bad.

Take the blurb seriously - it's absolutely right.
I enjoyed the second book in this series very much. But this one is 'True Romance' meets 'Home Beautiful' magazine, and it seems as if the author has fallen in love with the detective's girlfriend because I got quite sick of hearing her name. I've never before encountered a crime/detective novel where the detective's personal relationships swamped the story and their 'significant other' dominated the story. By the time we got to the crime bit, I was already so bored I hardly felt like hearing more.
The narrator is very good, though as I said , take the blurb seriously. This is a novel where " crime interferes wit Detective Garda Sergeant Mike West's personal life.- or more exactly sometimes interrupts the author's fascination with the girlfriend's psychology.

Not enough crime
Too much sex. Still worth the listen. Not liking the main characters as much though. Always worry when consent and sexual acts are blurred.

3 out of 3 finally finished
The Third and final instalment of Mike & Adele. Wow,l made it through!!
something along the lines of 25 hours of my Life invested in the cast of so many over three novels. My final thoughts on the final episode... Clearly this was the most sexual of the story lines which was definitely a surprise. The key demographic of audience being women this book took on some very steamy scenes which i think were a great idea to keep the reader interested for the last 8 hours. Being that there was none of it in book 1 and 2 the X rated character development was very much a surprise. The open ending that leaves too much unfinished is a bit of a disappointment.
Being that this is book 3 and the writer, knowing how much time the reader has invested getting to the end, i think we deserved more closure in the final instalment. In all 3, this one more so has a lot of moments that were just so unnecessary, 3-4 hours could have easily been shaved in editing.
More than a few unnecessary story lines & characters that went no where and looking back felt absolutely pointless to the ending wouldn't have been missed. I wish the very last 5 minutes where deleted, it ultimately ruined the ending for me.
With severe chopping of all 3 novels, this could have been 2 very fast paced books that would have been a gripping overall story.
There were snippets of well researched facts of the law included that were fascinating but again, the dialogue for each piece just felt like it was over explained time and time again, would i recommend it? To quell boredom on long commutes or house cleaning id say yes. but for a fast past gripping thriller, maybe not. If a 4th book appears, i really hope it ties it all up with a bow but unfortunately i think it has been left to personal interpretation.
The Narrator- being that there was one man to narrate so many characters, i think he did extremely well. I do prefer 2 narrators, a female and a male at least narrating might have helped give some extra life to the series of this length.
I really wanted to be able to give a more positive review as the novels really did have some page turning chapters that had me in the edge of my seat.
