Story
The decision to start a new life is never an easy one, but for Joe the transition was far from figurative. Becoming a permanent addition to a game world, it doesn't take long to learn that people with his abilities are actively hunted. In fact, if the wrong people gained knowledge of what he was capable of, assassins would appear in droves.

Story
Conquering dungeons and using them to grow has long been the most efficient way to become a powerful adventurer. The only thing keeping the process from being easy is the Beasts that inhabit these places. Questions plague those entering this particular place of power: Where do the ‘rewards’ of weapons, armor, and heavy gold coins come from? Why is a fluffy bunny charging at me? For abyss-sake, why are there so many monsters? Cal has all of the answers to these age-old questions for a very simple reason. He is a Dungeon Core, a soul forced against his will into a magical stone.

Sen never dreamed of ascension. Such were the aspirations of the rich young nobles, not orphans like him, scraping together a meager living on the streets of Orchard’s Reach. However, when destiny takes an unexpected turn, Sen finds himself thrust into the role of a cultivator’s disciple. Chosen over the nobles who once looked down on him, he is adopted into a makeshift family of three ancient cultivators, each with a lifetime of knowledge and insights. Betrayed. Murdered. Reborn. One last chance, to make it right. Theo's adventure ended with his mentor's hands around his neck. The betrayal cost him his friends, allies, and everything he had built...but not his life. Though broken and powerless, Theo has one last chance to enter the Nine Worlds, wielding the knowledge and expertise of his first life. This time, he needs more than just power, he needs to unravel the deception that killed him once...and is coming for him again.
Publisher's Summary
A town put to the sword. The young forcibly recruited. An old man out for revenge.
The first three books in the Artorian's Archives series, over 36 hours of cultivation adventure!
After his town is put to the sword and the children are taken to replace the fallen, an old man is out for revenge. He’s ready to fail at the most difficult challenge in the world: cultivation.
Too corrupted to even take the first steps, the sly old elder simply agreed with those who told him that it was impossible. Then he quietly ignored them, rubbed his hands together, and started anyway. He had always failed in what he did: He lost his way from the academy, his command was devastated by a Mage, he lost his town, and now his last hopes for the future had been stolen by a group of raiders. The only thing that had never failed him was his sharp mind and philosophy. He would cultivate...no matter what it cost him.
A lifetime of failure can dull and dampen a soul. A reason to live, a goal, can change that in an instant. It is always darkest just before the dawn.

Sleep inducing. I literally tuned out.
After a torturous 3 hour setup (no exaggeration - 3 hours!) featuring a needlessly complicated plot that ultimately means nothing (and could have been done in 15 minutes) I was excited to finally get to the litrpg only to become immediately mired in a further 3 hours of the MC discussing the world's magic system and arguing about philosophy. For the love of all that is holy, just get the story started!
The villain is a caricature straight from 'evil bad guys 101.' Her entire character arc can be described as 'I like knives and cutting people because I'm evil.'
Then there's the infodumps. Like, lots of them. All in the guise of people thinking about their plans for the future, or giving lectures on cultivation. At one stage the book even has one character complain to another that what they're telling them is boring. If you know this, don't then continue explaining it for another five minutes!
On the positive side, conversations felt natural, philosophy discussions felt intelligent and the magic system was well thought out. If you're really, really into the Divine Dungeon series, like, to the point where you just want to know anything and everything about the world, you may enjoy this more than I did.
But... that wasn't enough for me. I gave this book 7 hours of my life. I'm sorry, I just can't give it any more - this is going in my 'did not finish' pile.

Well...Travis tried.
So here we have a good narrator giving you some character voices you can differentiate between easily. More so, Travis easily portrays Sonny as an amusing and fun individual. So kudos Travis, nice try.
But...I'm only listening to this because it's 3 for the price of 1. It doesn't matter if I miss details while I listen to it at work and my attention wanders.
I'm not familiar with the Divine Dungeon series of books, and that may be what's leaving me wanting. But if its anything like this then I won't be checking it out.
For me this book has a lot of talk but doesn't say anything. It has plenty of filler but no flavor. Looks great but has no substance.
I'm a fan of Krout's 'Completionist Chronicles', and would much rather he spend his time on that series than this or anything new. That series is Gold. This series is a Bronze / aluminum alloy and it has its place somewhere...away from me.
