Publisher's Summary
A dramatic new Alien novel, as Weyland-Yutani seeks to recover from the failure of Hadley's Hope and successfully weaponize the Xenomorphs
With the failure of Hadley's Hope, Weyland-Yutani has suffered a devastating setback - the loss of the Aliens they aggressively sought to exploit. Yet there's a reason the Company has risen to the top of the food chain. True to form, they have a redundancy already in place...the facility known as "The Cold Forge".
Remote station RB-232 has become their greatest asset in weaponizing the Xenomorphs. However, when Dorian Sudler is sent to RB-232 to assess their progress, he discovers that there's a spy aboard - someone who doesn't necessarily act in the company's best interests. For Dorian, this is the most unforgivable of sins. When found, the perpetrator will be eliminated with extreme prejudice. If unmasked, though, this person may be forced to destroy the entire station...and everyone on board. That is, if the Xenomorphs don't do the job first.

Greatest Alien ever
Best Alien yet. Fantastically told tale true to the original while exploring possibilities of the genre—with brilliant characters. This should be made into a movie.

I'm giving this 4 stars to support the Alien EU
I am a big fan of the Alien universe, that's why I decided to give this title a try. The performance was great but the characters and stories were lacking.
I don't think I can recall reading a book where the majority of perspective takes place with the adversary. I was often feeling confused as to who the main character was! Blue as the hero felt pretty boring and convoluted. His/her constant reflections of fantasized violence feels more in common with Dorian which makes little sense. The escapism of living in another body was interesting but the author missed a chance to delve deeper.
I can only posit that the author fell in love with Dorian so much they forgot Blue existed? At times I liked Dorian too, but sometimes the author would just drop some extreme example to remind us he was a really bad guy (referring to Aryanism once and never again?).
The author failed to bother fleshing out any other character more than the set piece events they were meant to trigger for gore or minor hindrance. As an actual Aussie don't even get me started on Dick... we don't even have Coyotes, they are called Dingoes! And referring to locations with "silly" names is nothing short of insulting.
I'm giving this 4 stars to support the Alien EU but won't be picking up the sequel.

Best Alien book yet!!!
what a character Dorian is!!! obviously inspired by Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray, he is the embodiment of psychopathic narcissism. And he is brilliant. Such an amazing piece of shit. And Blue!!! I think this is the first book where human vs human has taken precedent over human vs alien. The aliens are beautiful background chaos. Sometimes controlled chaos. I also loved the reference to SMART goals. Being a Mental Health Peer Support Worker who uses SMART, albeit a little differently, I got a giggle out of that and appreciated the intertextuality. Actually there is some deep intertextuality going on throughput this book. Also, brilliant narration!! made it all the more fun to listen to. Will definitely listen to this one again in future. THANK GOD FOR ALIEN.
OTBD.
PEACE.

Hard to tell who the real predator is...corporate or alien
Riveting story from the opening paragraph, and the ending was satisfying, but I would never have guessed it even up to it’s denouement.
Basic story is, The Cold Forge is a scientific research outpost of Weyland Yutani where they are experimenting with Alien ‘eggs’, looking to find ways of controlling them. What the company doesn’t know though, is that at least one of the resident scientists is not what they seem.
Enter Corporate Representative, Dorian Suttler, “toe-cutter” extraordinaire. An arrogant, self-possessed narcissist who takes pleasure in others fear and discomfort.
Rather than being afraid of the aliens, he admires them....especially after they are freed by a rogue project.
Sit back and watch the body-count.
This book is very much as good as the original that started the whole thing. The suspense, the horror, the way it worms it’s way into your psyche and makes you look over your shoulder the further into the book you get.
....perfectly narrated by Michael Braun

Worthy addition to Alien and Aliens.
wow! this was fantastic! the story was totally engaging, human (and android) characters are as interesting to hear about as the scenes with the creatures themselves, and performed excellently throughout. Side note, it’s great to have a new alien story that doesn’t feel the need to involve Ellen Ripley in some weird far-fetched way. Just new, exciting characters! very much a worthy addition to the first two outstanding movies.

Can we please make this into a movie?
Seriously. This is worthy of being turned into a feature-length movie. There's so much to work with: Are you listening, Hollywood?

An Alternative Story
To date, all Alien stories, via film or book have begun with humans thrown into an Alien environment, with zero knowledge of what they're facing. Usually led by a Weyland Yutani corporate suit and followed by marines or mercenaries.
So us viewers are witnessing the same cliché slow pace reveals we've seen over and over. Acid for blood, face huggers, chest bursters, queen egg layer.. Etc..
Cold forge was a breath of fresh air for story telling/cannon.
Setup in a space facility that are studying Xenomorphs. We already have the basics covered. It's just about survival now.
The characters are convincing, and well fleshed out and for once I didn't entirely dislike the Weyland suit, Dorian. Who knew?!
The writer also cover some interesting new aspects of the Alien cannon, which ties into Promethus/Covenant.
I do wish they remake this as an Audible drama or even a film adaptation.
Recommend the credit :)
